Make no mistake, the second season of 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' will not go down without a bang. It's not us who's saying that, it's what the stars of the popular fantasy-mythological show had to say when previewing the upcoming finale. No wonder that the conclusion of the ongoing season will bring out the big guns, given the almost unending chaos that has transpired through the previously aired episodes. While the second-season finale of the Disney+ show is scheduled to air on January 21, it is worthwhile to consider all that happened in the recently aired seventh episode to get a sense of what will follow.

As reported by TVInsider, the penultimate episode aired on January 14 and was titled 'I Go Down with the Ship', in a nod to the famous Dio song. Luke had to carry Annabeth after the latter was injured back to their cruise ship headquarters, known as Lady Andromeda. The rebellion against Olympus has been raging with full force. Elsewhere, the Titan king Kronos was seen deploying his unique powers to warp Luke's mind via an essence. Charlie Bushnell, who plays Luke on the show, hinted that this encounter would set the stage for the future relationship between Kronos and Luke.

When asked about the sophomore season's finale episode, the cast of the show had very distinctive phrases which they used to describe the conclusion, such as "It's brutal," "It's crazy," and "Everyone's going to freak out." They further revealed that the setup of the finale is being devised in such a way that it will mark a tonal shift in the show's narrative, one that will be utilized to a greater extent in the third season.

SYFY recently caught Walker Scobell for a Zoom interview, during the course of which the star shed some light about what to expect from the third season when he said, "There's a lot of stuff we've shot that I'm really excited about, but I want to keep it (limited to) the first two episodes, which are my favorite first two episodes so far." The seventh episode of the second season, viewed in this light, presented a watershed moment in which the characters experienced their last bit of peace before the chaos hit the fan.

The majority of the ongoing season has seen Percy and his gang doing their best to chase the golden fleece, as per Bam Smack Pow. Time has been running out at a rapid pace since the protective shield over Camp Half-Blood would soon cease to exist, and Percy must save the day before that hour arrives. As Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Titus, and the rest of the gang prepare to fight their final battle, it can be speculated that the upcoming finale, titled 'The Fleece Works its Magic Too Well' would be one to remember for some time to come.
