O'AHU, HAWAII: HGTV is back with another interesting series 'Renovation Aloha' which is all set to air on February 20 at 9/8c. The series will feature Hawaiin power couple Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama who will buy and flip houses on the beautiful island of Hawaii. 

Tristyn Kalama is an American design expert, real estate investor, and also TV show host while her husband Kamohai is a real estate pro who manages and buys properties.

Even though their exact net worth is unknown, as per an Instagram post by the couple they stated that in the past six years, they have built a rental portfolio of $7 million which generates a $30,000 passively per month. They also stated that they do 20+ redevelopment (fix and flip) projects on Oahu which generates a 7-figure income for them annually.

They also earn from partnership opportunities and brand endorsements. They also run a real estate investor meetup and podcast called 'Deals and Aloha'. As per Original Profiles, Kamohai Kalama earns an annual salary of $50,000-$120,000 and Tristyn also earns $50,000-$120,000. The couple also are the founders and CEO of TK INVESTMENT PROPERTIES LLC which is a Domestic Limited Liability Company (LLC).

Kamohai Kalama was born and raised on the east side of Oahu. He is the eldest of four children. He attended Kamehameha Schools in 1999 and later joined the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Kamohai excels in identifying and acquiring profitable properties and analyzing strong outcomes of it.

As per 'The Origin Story' podcast Kamohai's family are native Hawaiians and he watched his father struggle and reach the vice president position of the Hawaiin bank. However, Kamohai also stated that he was spoiled with choices and he did not take his early days seriously. For 12 years he was addicted to drugs and alcohol and also 'went in and out of jail'. He's been clean since June 2012.

Tristyn had a different childhood she watched her parents be busy with their jobs but also had a rough childhood. Her parents even landed in jail due to substance abuse. She was raised by her grandparents. She also had an older brother. She had an intense urge to be successful from the beginning after watching her successful entrepreneurial family.

What made Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama start a real estate business?

Before venturing into real estate, the couple had no idea what their upcoming vision would be. Tristyn's father was a realtor when he started and was in the business. Tristyn stated in 'The Origin Story' podcast that 'coming from the behavior world sector you do not make a ton of money' and thus it was a rough start for the couple and they had to learn to do real estate. They had to upscale their finances as their mental counselor jobs weren't paying well enough.

That is when Tristyn came across an advertisement for 'Fortune Builders' a mentorship program for real estate. Tristyn said about 'Fortune Builders' that "It put us on the path to where we are not" and helped them teach 'good groundwork and foundation' of flipping houses as per Kamohai even though he was super skeptical about it.

What did Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama do before venturing into real estate?

Kamohai Kalama before entering the real estate business worked as a substance abuse counselor. Tristyn Kalama, now HGTV enthusiast and role of designated designer was a licensed mental health counselor. Tristyn co-founded a non-profit that provided support services to individuals struggling with substance abuse and managed 500 clients. Before real estate Kamohai owned a retail brand called Aloha Beachclub and his brother and he had three retail stores.

When this business died out they started looking for other sources of income. That is when Tristyn encouraged Kamohai to join the Fortune Builders mentorship program. They also cleared out that they were in debt when they enrolled themselves in the mentorship program.

How many children does Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama have?

Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama have two children together. Yasiel is their daughter who is 7 years. They also have a son named Vale who is 5 years. Tristyn and Kamohai married on March 5, 1999. The children are close to their grandparents as stated by Tristyn in 'The Origin Story' podcast. It would be interesting to see how they would manage their lives with super busy entrepreneurial parents.

Did the power couple Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama face any loss in their career?

They did face loss at the start of their real estate career. In 2018, they ended up getting a house flipping project. Kamohai calls the project 'the worst flip in the world'. They did everything wrong with the project they went over budget and even hired the wrong contractor.

They learned from their failures and Tristyn stated that they both were 'entrepreneurial by nature'. From their initial loss of $15,000 to difficulties in their first real estate investment, they faced challenges that tested their determination. However, they came away from these experiences with vital insights and a better understanding of the industry.

'Renovation Aloha', HGTV's upcoming house remodeling series, is scheduled to premiere on February 20, 2024, at 9/8c. Real estate guru Kamohai Kalama and his spouse Tristyn Kalama handle home design and renovations. The show will feature married couple Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama who will take worn-down houses and transform them into beautiful houses.

The couple is all set to take house-flipping projects across the island of Oahu, Hawaii, the most restrictive and difficult location for house-flipping in the country.
