It's certainly a brand new day for the webslinging superhero and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. MCU recently dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker. While the teaser establishes the aftermath of 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' and introduces a fresh roster of intimidating villains, there's one little snippet that holds huge potential for another popular show, 'Daredevil: Born Again'. Season 2 of the latter is scheduled to release on March 24 on Disney+ and will once again feature Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock taking the fight to Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D'Onofrio.

At around the 36-second mark on the 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' trailer, Spider-Man is seen receiving the keys to the city. However, it was the person presenting the keys who garnered the audience's interest. She appears to be Sheila Rivera for a fleeting moment. It is interesting to note that the character prominently appears in 'Daredevil' as the political advisor and assistant to Mayor Wilson Fisk, and is played by actress Zabryna Guevara.

The fact that Fisk himself is absent as the sitting Mayor of the city, and that Rivera is handing over the keys, might hint at Fisk's downfall from his hitherto established pedestal by the conclusion of the second season of 'Daredevil: Born Again'. Of course, in the absence of any official confirmation, this remains merely speculative. Representatives for Marvel and Disney+ have yet to make an official comment.

When D'Onofrio was asked about the moment from the trailer on X, the actor responded by saying, "I love it. Didn't confirm anything. If it's true, I love it. When I replied 'I love it' (sic) was the first i time I had seen anything about it...I'm the last person to know anything about the future of our show or any other show, for that matter. I only know about the job at hand. That is the absolute truth." In a previous interview with EW, 'Daredevil: Born Again' executive producer Sana Amanat and showrunner Dario Scardapane revealed that while the debut season of the vigilante show was all about the rise of Mayor Fisk, the sophomore season will shed light on the resistance movement that is unleashed to bring him down. It is also known that Jessica Jones will join forces with Murdock for this.

Elsewhere, the 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' trailer revealed the rise of a shadowy villain, played by 'Stranger Things' star Sadie Sink. Job Bernthal's Frank Castle, i.e., The Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner are expected to feature prominently in the upcoming movie, alongside the villains Scorpion and the Hand. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' arrives in theatres on July 31.
