PHOENIX, ARIZONA: A widely shared video by a finance YouTuber has sparked controversy for claiming that people in their 20s should be able to afford a $200,000 car. "If you're a guy in your 20s and you don't have a Lamborghini, you should actually sit down and have like a serious dialogue with yourself as to why you don't have a Lambo," Arizona YouTuber Sebastian Ghiorghiu said in the 23-second clip.

It's "so incredibly easy," the 24-year-old Arizona YouTuber continued, because there is "so much money out there," and he called $200,000 "chump change." Depending on the model, base prices for Lamborghini cars in 2022 ranged from $200,000 to £577,000, according to Motor1. The video was posted on January 22 by @SaeedDiCaprio on Twitter with the caption, "bro these people can't be real."

What did Sebastian say to his followers?

Sebastian Ghiorghi's clip sparked outrage after he called $200,000 "chump change." Ghiorghiu can be heard saying, "People will say I'm out of touch with reality, and they can suck it, because it's not true," in a longer version of the video that was uploaded to his TikTok account on January 13. He added, "I've seen a lot now and I'm like, OK, so $200,000 is literally pocket change." The video has garnered over 3,600 comments and 2.3 million views, and some of them hinted that they believed he had financial assistance from his parents to buy the expensive car, as per the Insider.

The tweet generated a contentious conversation and earned over 2,600 quote tweets in addition to over 9.2 million views. Many viewers believed his remarks revealed a degree of privilege beyond the reach of the majority, while others defended him by pointing out that the sum is insignificant in comparison to the total wealth in the US. A user said, "The people replying agreeing with him, have obviously never struggled to find their next meal or were scared and didn't know how rent or power was going to be paid before and it shows." Another noted, "My spouse yesterday "We're not where I thought we'd be. We can't even afford a house!" and he's in his 40s. We had to sell ours to move for work and now we can't even afford a new one so we rent, like everyone else right now. A Lambo?? Let's just stop being poor is great advice." Defending the man, a user wrote, "he’s right in that $200K isn’t *that* much $ nowadays but to afford to blow it on a car that depreciates like a rock is something else entirely. during the last ETH pump I was making $2-3K/day 7 days a week flipping GPUs to miners but never thought I wanted to buy a lambo." Another said, "He’s right? I’m not sure what there is to disagree with. 200k is in fact such a small amount of money relative to a) amount of opportunity, & b) money in wider circulation. & what ppl choose to spend 200k on is up to them."
