Kelly Gleeson: Mother found dead by teen daughter just an hour after she went to bed with suspected 'food poisoning'
STOCKPORT, MANCHESTER: A teenage girl found her 40-year-old mother dead after she went to bed with suspected food poisoning. On December 29, Kelly Gleeson went to bed at 6 pm after spending most of the day vomiting. Just an hour later, her 17-year-old daughter, Madison, found her in an unresponsive state.
Paramedics were called to the scene after the care worker's daughter made the discovery along with her father Jerry while at home, reports Manchester Evening News. Gleeson had already died by the time the emergency responders arrived and it took a month before the paramedics disclosed the mother's cause of death. According to the reports, Kelly Gleeson died from a pulmonary embolism.

What is pulmonary embolism?
Pulmonary embolism takes place when a blood clot gets stuck in an artery in the lung, blocking blood flow to part of the lung. It often takes place quickly and can prove to be fatal if not treated quickly. According Mayo Clinic, in most cases, the blood clot starts in a deep vein in the leg and travels to the lung. Prompt treatment to break up the clot greatly reduces the risk of death by using blood thinners, other drugs and emergency procedures. Compression stockings and physical activity can help prevent clots from forming in the first place.
Unexplained shortness of breath, chest pain or fainting are typical symptoms of this condition. However, Kelly Gleeson was asleep when the attack occured. Gleeson died just five years after her brother Daniel died from cancer. Her husband told the news outlet that he is left "absolutely devastated" after the ordeal.
Family mourns 'loving mother, wife and sister'
"To say I'm heartbroken is an understatement. 22 wonderful years we had together – well, when I wasn't annoying her. I was good at doing that" said Kelly's husband Jerry Gleeson. '"I never stopped loving you and I will always love you. I promise I'll look after our baby girl. The dog is lost. She keeps sitting on the rug staring up at the door, waiting for you to come home."
Gleeson's daughter added, "'My mum was my best friend and we did everything together no matter what. She was the loudest in the room no matter where we were or who she was with." A GoFundMe page has been set up by Gleeson's sister, Jade Rothwell, to raise funds for her funeral, saying she wants to "give my sister the best send-off she deserves". She described her as the "most loving, most beautiful, caring person", describing how she "screamed" when she received the tragic news.
The mother of five rushed to her sister's house only to find out the paramedics were unable to revive her. Jade says it has been "lonely and quiet" without her. "You really were the light in every room. You never failed to make everyone laugh," one of Gleeson's friends wrote in a post on the day after her death. "Always wished the best upon everyone, made me smile through some of my worst days without even knowing it. You impacted so many people just by being you. I hope you have found peace and I hope to god that you can feel the love that everybody is sharing today. Love you always." Gleeson's family and loved ones gathered on January 6 in Stockport and released balloons in her memory.
