CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: 'Dark Matter' ending has been a bag of mixed emotions. While it offered a satisfying conclusion to prime Jason's adventure and addressed the fate of other supporting characters, we are left wondering what happens to the hundreds of Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) trapped in Reality 1.
The sci-fi series concluded with ninth episode, on June 26, 2024, bringing an end to the multiverse chaos. Yet, some loose ends remain, leaving scope for another season.
Reality 1 is a mess in 'Dark Matter' finale
In 'Dark Matter' finale, the good versions of Jason gather near the box and they all let Jason 1A escape Reality 1 along with Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and Charlie (Oakes Fegley).
While Jason 1A has got his happy ending, the fate of other Jasons, including Jason 2 remains uncertain. Atleast a dozen Jason are dead while fighting each other, while the rest of them are now trapped in a world that doesn't belong to them.
Unresolved fate of hundred versions of Jason leaves fans debating
'Dark Matter' fans have assembled on Reddit to speculate what might be happening in Reality 1 after Jason 1A's escape. A fan wrote, "That prime world is now whacked. It will be global news that they have tons of Jasons, lol."
Someone added, "How long until prime world gov agencies develop the vial serum and f-up the multiverse lol."
A fan speculated, "Surely there are more or some empty ampules in the storage facility plus the box still leftover for the government or military to figure things out and study and replicate the ampule technology with one of the Jason’s whose left and disgruntled."
Another intrigued fan commented, "There will be traces of the drug in every Jasons' body though so they could sequence his blood or any bodily secretions of him to reverse engineer the exact drug. This is unless the drug is still within Jason's system and has not been completely metabolized and excreted."
"It’s possible that after some time one of the Jason 1’s could along with the ampules and Ryan 1’s research figure out how to recreate the ampule serum. Along with the box still being there and potentially the government stepping in," reads another Reddit comment.
Well, the unresolved fate of these Jasons have surely left scope for another season of 'Dark Matter'. Though Apple TV+ hasn't made any announcement of the renewal yet, we can keep up our fingers crossed.
