Why Tom Brady apologized to Tyrann Mathieu? Buccaneers legend texts Chiefs star after heated Super Bowl game
Tom Brady continues to make headlines well after rallying the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their Super Bowl LV win on Sunday. The 43-year-old quarterback reportedly got in touch with Tyrann Mathieu, the Kansas City Chiefs' safety to apologize for their heated exchange during the course of the game. The Daily Star reported that Brady reached out to Mathieu to apologize for "losing his composure."
During the game, Brady and Mathieu clashed multiple times, and at one point, Brady even chased him down and then got right into his face. In the apology text he sent, according to ESPN, Brady hailed Mathieu as the "ultimate competitor" while also noting he had to match the intensity the Chiefs' star would bring on the D-Day.

A source also insisted that Brady's actions were "in no way a reflection on his feelings toward Mathieu, whom he spoke of highly throughout the week leading up to the game." After the nasty exchange, Mathieu expressed his unhappiness in a tweet that he deleted soon after. "He called me something I won’t repeat, but yeah, I’ll let all the media throw me under the bus as if I did something or said something to him. Go back to my previous games against TB12 I showed him nothing but respect. Look at my interviews about him. I show grace," he had said.
Post the game, all that Mathieu wanted to do was forget the whole event. "Listen, Tom Brady’s a great quarterback. I never really saw that side of Tom Brady, to be honest. But whatever, no comment. It’s over with. I’m done with it." Brady chased Mathieu after receiving the finger, but the latter was slapped with a 15-yard penalty and Brady faced no consequences. "He's clearly chasing me but I got flagged.
Brady managed to secure a seventh Super Bowl ring and dished out one of his best performances to date on Sunday night. The NFL great led the Buccaneers to a dominating 31-9 victory against Kansas City Chiefs.
Meanwhile, fans are speculating if the Bucs win was pretty much a rigged game with the referees reportedly siding with Tampa Bay. This became a major topic of discussion after well-known columnist and TV personality, Skip Bayless, slammed Bill Belichick, Brady's coach when the QB played for the New England Patriots."TOM BRADY JUST LAUNCHED HIS SECOND DYNASTY, THIS ONE IN TOMPA BAY. EAT YOUR HEART OUT, BELICHICK, IF YOU HAVE ONE," read Bayless' tweet and as always, the tweet sparked massive fury among Chiefs and Pats fans who went on to say the Super Bowl was rigged in favor of the Bucs and the refs played a crucial part in making sure Brady, at 43, would get another ring on the finger.
