Wei Fen Ong: Texas mother arrested on suspicion of stabbing husband, driving her three children into pond
CARROLLTON, TEXAS: Wei Fen Ong was arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband, then driving her car into a pond with her three children, aged eight, nine, and 12, reported the Daily Mail.
No loss of life has been reported for anyone involved in the two tragic incidents, which took place on Friday, November 17. However, one child is said to be in critical condition.
Wei Fen Ong allegedly attacked her husband before driving herself and her children into a retention pond
Carrollton police reportedly received a call from a home in the 4400 block of Tall Knight Lane, located in Carrollton, Texas, after Ong's husband was stabbed. The first responders took the victim to the hospital, and officials stated that he was expected to survive, according to CBS News.
A short while later, Lewisville police received a 911 call about a car driven into a retention pond along the 900 block of Hebron Parkway.
The first responding teams from the police and the fire brigade quickly converged on the scene. While they needed to pull out the accused and her two youngest children from the submerged vehicle, the oldest was able to break free on their own.
Of the two youngest children, one was resuscitated at the scene by a police officer, while the other was revived by paramedics on the way to the hospital. The mother and the eldest child were examined at Medical City in Lewisville.
Tire marks show Wei Fen Ong was driving 'very fast'
Audreyanna Lagunes, who lives nearby, said, "Oh my heart sank, I have children. I have grandchildren, so I'm very sensitive to that," to Fox5.
Referring to the deep tire tracks outlining the car's path leading to the pond, she added, "She had to be going really fast. She had to be going more than 20-30 miles per hour, those are pretty deep. What kind of toll is that going to take on the long run? How long they were under?"
What are the charges against Wei Fen Ong?
The Denton County District Attorney has filed several charges against Wei Fen Ong, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon resulting in serious bodily injury and three counts of aggravated assault.
