MOSCOW, IDAHO: Four University of Idaho students, Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, and Madison Mogen, were brutally murdered in their apartment on November 13, 2022. On December 30, police arrested Bryan Christopher Kohberger, a 28-year-old PhD student of Washington State University, and charged him with four counts of first-degree murder and felony burglary. Kohberger has since become the hot topic of discussion, not just in news but also on several social media platforms, with many web sleuths building theories behind the ruthless murders.
According to a new theory suggested by a Reddit user, Kohberger, who was studying the psychology of criminals, allegedly took a 'criminal's advice' for conducting the murders. The Reddit post reads, "Bryan visited the college campus weeks before the murders. I am wondering what would have made him choose to kill these four people specifically. He thought it would be easy to get away with their murders because their house was a 'party place' and almost everyone might have had access to it. Or was he just obsessing over these good-looking chaps and wanted to just end them out of jealousy? Some say that he wanted to commit a 'perfect crime' but I believe that he might have taken some kind of weird advice or something from one of the criminals he interviewed for his study. Like he played out some other killer's fantasy by hearing their story. Also, Borderline Personality Disorder With Cocaine Dependence: He was a cocaine addict. Any theories on that?"

Reacting to the post, one person wrote, "I remember reading on here several weeks ago that someone found his sister's YouTube channel and she spoke on having a brother with bpd. He later finished his Bachelor’s in psychology and a Master’s in criminal justice from DeSales University in Center Valley. Kohberger's teachers and classmates described him as someone who was "obsessed" with criminology. In 2022, he left Pennsylvania and went to earn a PhD from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. Kohberger also worked as a teaching assistant in Washington State University's criminal justice and criminology department.

He added, “In particular, this study seeks to understand the story behind your most recent criminal offense, with an emphasis on your thoughts and feelings throughout your experience. In the event that your most recent offense was not one that led to a conviction, you may still participate.” Soon after his arrest, the Reddit post went viral and was later deleted.
