MOSCOW, IDAHO: As the investigation into the University of Idaho murders continues, eagle-eyed web sleuths believe the authorities have already obtained the DNA and fingerprints of the killer who brutally stabbed Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20 on November 13.

Many spurious and wild conspiracy theories started doing the rounds on the internet after renowned journalist Nancy Grace appeared on 'Fox & Friends' and stated, “The perp is most likely not a convicted felon because he is not popping up on AFIS or CODIS. That’s telling me a lot about who this is.” She also revealed that the investigators are going to use ‘genealogical DNA’ to get their hands on the suspect or suspects.

Citing Grace’s revelation, a Reddit user who goes by the username of u/blueroses90 noted, "Did we miss something? Seems like she has inside knowledge that they DO have the perp's DNA. ETA - CODIS is for DNA while AFIS is for fingerprints. If Nancy's correct, it could mean they have the perp's DNA and prints as well."

A second user backed the claim and wrote, "Maybe that’s what Xana’s dad meant when he said she fought back, he seemed to say it proudly, which is understandable but maybe he was proud because she got DNA that could help find the killer."

“Of course, they have the DNA. I don’t find it weird that it’s not in the system. This guy is probably college age or a little older that’s still pretty young in the terms of becoming a felon,” said the third user while the fourth asserted, “I feel like they have to, but unclear if the same DNA would already be in the house. Also, it’s prob rare for college kids to have a felony record versus an older individual.”

“I don’t know many people at college that would be in CODIS. So seems accurate. I can’t stand Nancy grace. But I don’t think it’s too big of a leap to believe the killer isn’t in a database,” another user said.

Meanwhile, the Moscow Police department revealed that they were reviewing more than 260 digital submissions – including videos and photos – by the public to an FBI link. Investigators have reportedly sent 113 pieces of physical evidence they collected to the Idaho State Police crime lab for analysis. More than 45 investigators from the FBI, state police, and Moscow police are involved in the murder case.
