CATHEDRAL HEIGHTS, WASHINGTON DC: On November 23, a woman from Washington, DC, was seen screaming at her Black Uber driver using racially-charged language in an offensive incident caught on camera. The 'Karen' has since been banned from the ride-sharing app as a result of the widely shared video captured by an eyewitness at the scene.

Both the driver and the passenger have remained anonymous. Meanwhile, DC police are investigating the incident, in which the passenger repeatedly called the driver a 'slave' and the N-word. Uber said that "the rider's account has been banned from the app" in a statement released on Wednesday, November 23, adding that they were already "in touch with the driver." The spectator's video was reposted on Twitter on Wednesday by a DC area community news account, and within hours, it had received more than 3 million views.

The woman is heard screaming, "I'm your f*****g boss," in a portion of the video in which she is also seen pushing the Uber driver. "You're a little piece of s**t, n****r." Although the cause of the argument is not immediately evident, the exchange of insults between the two would indicate that the outburst was sparked by a request to use the driver's phone charger.

The White woman is seen shouting at the driver after he initially appears to have refused her request, possibly because he was charging his own phone. The driver is then seen backing away from the woman in the footage as she approaches him. The man exclaims at the abusive woman, "Get the f**k out of my face!" in an effort to distant himself. But the woman keeps moving forward, shouting just centimeters from the man's face.

Gradually, the conversation becomes extremely heated as the woman shouts furiously, "I employ you, I'm your boss." The man, who was evidently irritated, remained silent throughout the woman's outburst while gesturing with his arm raised for her to respect his personal space. The woman says, "I'm your f*****g boss," before launching into the first of numerous racial slurs.

The woman screams, "You're a little piece of shit, n****r," repeating the phrase multiple times as she begins to leave. She is then referred to as "a b***h" by the male driver, who at this point has evidently become tired of the woman's antics. "I'm a bitch?" the woman reacts to the driver's slight irritation. "You're still a slave," she said. The argument shortly picks back up, with the woman repeating her rude comments and making numerous notably worse ones. The woman yells at the man, "I asked for a phone charger, you f*****g ignorant n****r," lashing out because her phone's battery was running low.

The video finishes with the woman yelling one more racial slur at the driver and pushing him despite his apparent attempts to avoid physical contact with the passenger after complaining about her low battery for one more time. The rider's behavior is currently being reviewed, according to Uber, which claims that the employee visible in the video reported the incident. An Uber representative said that every customer's experience should be "safe, respectful, and positive" in their statement on Wednesday, November 23. "Behavior like this is never okay. We have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination. If you have more information about the Uber rider or driver please DM us so we can investigate this," the statement read.
