Was Trump and Melania's Christmas portrait photoshopped? Internet says 'both look two-dimensional cut-outs'

'Weirdest cut and paste job ever seen. They both look two dimensional cut outs/ anime, superimposed onto a screen. DT’s face is from a prior photo. Bizarre until the very end'

After Melania Trump posted the official White House Christmas portrait on Twitter featuring President Donald Trump and the first lady flashing big smiles and posing on the staircase together in twinning outfits, many of the social media sleuths were convinced that the first couple had photoshopped their last festive snap before leaving the iconic residence, making way for President-elect Joe Biden and his family to move in on January 20.

Trump and Melania donned matching black tuxedos for their final official Christmas portrait which was taken on December 10 and released on Friday, December 18. As per news reports, the first lady wore a Christian Dior tuxedo that featured a traditional cummerbund and black satin along the lapel and pant legs.

Melania, from the official FLOTUS Twitter account, shared the photo along with, “Merry Christmas from President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. @realDonaldTrump & @FLOTUS are seen December 10, in their official 2020 Christmas portrait, on the Grand Staircase of the White House in Washington, D.C. "It makes sense why the Trumps would fake their holiday portrait, as Melania herself has admitted she isn't a fan of her White House Christmas duties," InStyle magazine noted, referencing the leaked 2018 audiotape of the FLOTUS recorded by her former aide Stephanie Wolkoff in which Melania was heard saying, 'F**K Christmas.' "Luckily, this is the last year Melania will have to worry about 'Christmas stuff' — holiday portraits included."

Soon a number of people on Twitter spoke up about how they too thought that the photo in question was fabricated. "What a lovely photo (shop). Was Donald lifted out of a photo from this same meeting?" one said, while another wrote, "Weirdest cut and paste job ever seen. They both look two dimensional cut outs/ anime, superimposed onto a screen. DT’s face is from a prior photo. Bizarre until the very end." A third noted, "I’ve seen some pretty amateur photoshop jobs in my life, but this one takes it to a new level! No way this is not shopped!"

One more added, "Can anyone tell me why they had to photoshop their official christmas portrait instead of just taking one??? Anyone else seeing the staircase warp and bulge around their feet? And what's up with the lazer cropped hairdos? And where is Melania's right arm?" Another commented, "Looks like a terrible photoshop job...like they pasted trump and melania and forgot to size them right or add a shadow. Looks very odd."

A commenter tweeted, "Okay photo experts - is this photoshopped? No idea why they would need to - they do live there. But the odd outlines of them, particularly up around their heads, make this look like a bad collage. What say you, people with photoshop skills?" The next remarked, "Why they got Trump looking slim and Melania looking young? Thank God for photoshop." One more said, "Not only is it a photoshop, it's a bad one. So obvious." Another commented, "Hey Andrea Hanks - how much photoshop work did you do on this photo? It totally shows all around Melania. No way these two poses together for this official Christmas photo."
