After she raised quite a few eyebrows following her very public decision to stick by her husband and social media relationship guru Derrick Jaxn, despite his admission of infidelity earlier this week, Da’Naia Jackson is now dispelling rumors that she was being held captive by her spouse -- speculation that was sparked from the hat/bonnet she wore.
After the couple uploaded a clip from an exclusive tell-all interview with gossip site The Shade Room on their Instagram page titled, "Did I Cheat In My Marriage? #TheTruth” in which Derrick revealed that he had been unfaithful during his marriage adding that he deserves to be held accountable for his actions, people started criticizing Da’Naia for claiming that she would "probably stand by his side" despite learning the truth about her cheating husband. Many of the people also started wondering if Da’Naia was being forced by her husband to stand by him. Her choice to wear a bonnet during the all-revealing interview was questioned as a probable sign of captivity.

To clarify all the comments about her appearance, Da’Naia uploaded a second video on her Instagram page on Wednesday, March 24, saying her choice of clothing is a source of power for her. “You see a bonnet, I see the helmet of salvation. You see an army green shirt. I see the breastplate of righteousness,” she said while wearing her hat and army fatigues. “I see the belt of truth and the sandals of peace, the sword of spirit, which is the word of God, and the shield of faith. And I’ve come to the battleground covered in the blood of Jesus to proclaim victory over sin.”
Da’Naia also claimed to wage a “spiritual warfare” against her critics. “This is a spiritual warfare and if you are not prepared and you do not know what to do, you will drown and you will be a casualty in this war,” she said. “I did not come here to play games and to play dress-up. I came here in my battle suit. I came here on the battleground covered in the blood of Jesus.”
Bonnets have traditionally been linked to slavery. Slave women shipped from Africa, who traditionally wore African headdresses in their native countries, were given European styles of bonnets. Slaves carrying out household tasks were often given bonnets of a traditional European maid style, while slaves in the field wore hand-tied sunbonnets. These head bonnets were preferred by the masters for hygiene, while also offering protection from the sun.
We previously reported that Derrick and his wife welcomed their daughter Marley before their engagement in 2016. The duo tied the knot in January 2018 after dating for a few years. According to multiple reports, Derrick popped the big question to her in the year 2016. Da’Naia’s family is from Colorado and she stays super active on Instagram and the majority of her posts are about the Christian faith. A woman named Candice De Medeiros reached out to blogger/vlogger Tasha K revealing that she was involved in an affair with the YouTuber. She got to know him on Twitter in 2009 adding that Derrick flew her to Miami for a romantic weekend in July last year during which his wife was apparently in Colorado with her family.
Expressing her opinion on the matter of her husband's lack of loyalty in their marriage, she said, “There is no justification for bringing another woman into our relationship on any level. It is unacceptable and this is not something I will tolerate or we will tolerate moving forward. I have been flooded with messages asking why haven’t I left but the answer for that is when I found out I did leave. I did not hesitate or waste my time. I stood firm on not coming back.” Da’Naia continued, “I did not come back until I saw a shift in his personality or how he presented himself during conversations. This is something we never had in 12 years of knowing each other.” She concluded, “There is nothing I don't know about and we have moved forward from it. He continues to seek guidance and that is what I need to stay in the marriage. Today, I am at peace and probably stand by his side. I have no hesitation, hate, or shame.”
