Was Brianna Ghey's murder a hate crime? Internet discusses motive as friend claims trans teen was 'bullied for years'
WARRINGTON, ENGLAND: Internet discusses the possibility of Brianna Ghey's murder being a hate crime after the late transgender teen's friends revealed that she was 'bullied for years' because of her gender identity. Authorities claim that there is no evidence that Brianna's murder was the result of a hate crime but the public says otherwise.
16-year-old trans girl Brianna Ghey was found stabbed to death in a park in Warrington on Saturday afternoon, February 11, just five days after she posted a TikTok video revealing she had been 'excluded from school.' It has been believed that Brianna's fatal stabbing was reportedly a targeted attack. Two 15-year-olds, a girl and a boy, have reportedly been arrested in connection to Brianna's murder. They are currently in police custody.

Bullied for being trans
Brianna's friends have revealed on social media that the 16-year-old had been bullied and gang beaten at school for several years over the simple reason of being trans. A friend of Brianna said, "She had been bullied in school for years," as per Daily Mail. Another friend told that those who were aware of the bullying 'refused to intervene', as per The Sun. In a video posted by Brianna five days before her tragic murder on her now-deleted TikTok account, she announced that she felt excluded at school.
'How was it not a hate crime?'
Despite police claims that the teen was not a victim of a hate crime, given her history of bullying, the internet believes otherwise. A Twitter user wrote, "If Brianna Ghey wasn’t the victim of a hate crime, what was the motive? Why do two 15 year olds decide to murder another teenager for no reason. According to reports, she was bullied incessantly at school, but yeah, Move along now, no hate crime to see here. B******s". Accusing the police of lying, another user tweeted, "In case you were wondering, yes, the murder of Brianna Ghey was a hate crime. She was trans, was bullied relentlessly for being trans, and stabbed to death by two other kids. Am I saying the British police lied? Yes, I absolutely am. They are lying. #DignityForBrianna"

"Bro Brianna Ghey gets stabbed to death by her two longtime bullies, and the police say it's not a hate crime?? She gets killed by the people who bullied her for being trans and it's not a hate crime???? make it make sense", another added. Another confused user asked how it is not a hate crime by saying, "Police say that the murder of Brianna Ghey was not a hate crime. Two of her peers have been arrested for her death after she was bullied in school. How was it not a hate crime? She was a child who's life was taken from her because she was different. This is sickening."
