Why did Daryl and Carol go their separate ways?

'The Walking Dead' Season 10 Episode 21 'Diverged' (AMC)

In 'Find Me', Daryl and Carol got into a heated argument that saw Daryl blaming Carol for what had happened to Connie. Daryl even said that he won't stop Carol if she decided to run away again. While the new episode may seem to be a "filler," the duo's newfound stubbornness in their relationship now threatens their decade of friendship. This episode could just give us an introduction to the possible spin-off based on these two. While you have to wait for Sunday for the 'Diverged,' you don't have to wait to see the opening minutes of the episode. Insider posted the start of the episode before it debuted on AMC+ on Thursday. Let's just say the "tension" between Carol and Daryl makes you wonder how the episode ends. Will they patch up? You can watch the video below.

The episode that is written by Heather Bellson and directed by David Boyd, caters to a storyline that focuses on Carol's mental health, along with the beef that she has with Daryl. Since the AMC+ release, [SPOILER ALERT] we know what happens when the two split ways - Carol decides to return to Alexandria, but Daryl decided to stay on the road. Dog on the other hand, who is Daryl's favorite companion chooses to go with Carol instead. They both understandably have to now go on "survival mode" on their own, and since it's a zombie apocalypse, we're definitely also expecting obstacles.

The Walking Dead season 10 episode 21 airs on Sunday, March 28, on AMC at 9 pm EST.

The official synopsis reads, "Daryl and Carol come to a fork in the road and head their separate ways. Each going into their own type of survival mode, the easiest of challenges become much harder. Will their individual journeys be the tipping point needed to mend their friendship or is the distance between them permanent?" You can watch the official teaser below. 'The Walking Dead' Season 10 airs on Sundays at 9 pm EST on AMC.
