It has garnered more than a million views and multiple comments like “I’m convinced that police need to take a basic criminal and constitutional legal course in order to be a cop. I mean I think it’s absurd that the same people enforcing the law doesn’t know the law. 🤦🏽♂️."
One person wrote, “@fairfaxcounty Government, @FairfaxCountyPD - this is NOT okay. This is a violation of the first amendment and needs to be addressed immediately. Active steps need to be taken to ensure this never happens again. Police should NEVER be pointing guns at bystanders holding cameras.”

The video starts with the recorder saying, “Yo, what the f**k,” before two police officers — a male and a female — saw him and began yelling at him. The male cop can be heard saying, “Hey, stop him,” as the female officer moves toward the teen while pointing a gun at him. And when the person asks, “Why are you pulling a gun on me?” He was told, “Because you have a weapon.”
The shocked teen then questions, “What weapon, what weapon, huh? You look dumb, bro.” But the cops did not stop as they repeatedly screamed at him and asked him to get "down on his knees" and "down on the ground".
Later, a spokesperson for the Fairfax County Police Department told 'Newsweek' that the incident happened at an iHop restaurant on the night of July 9 when the cops were detaining two minors for allegedly intimidating a hostess with "what appeared to be a handgun".
The spokesperson noted, “While detaining them, a third subject, who the officers believed to be involved, approached with something in his hands. Due to the nature of the call and not locating a weapon, officers ordered the subject to the ground at gunpoint. Officers determined the juvenile was holding a cell phone and filming. The three juveniles were detained and later released to their parents,” before adding, “As with all pointing of firearm events, the incident is under review.”
Jeff McKay, Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, also issued a statement on Twitter. He said, “I assure you that a thorough investigation will take place and that its findings will be shared with our community. The pointing of a firearm prompts an internal review that will be monitored by the Independent Police Auditor who reports directly to the Board. Ensuring our officers are following departmental policies and the expectations of our community are of paramount importance.”
