A New Jersey mother’s TikTok video has gone viral as she claimed that her son was sexually assaulted at his school by another student. Mika Ann (@geminikatz610) also said that the school authorities failed to notify her about the incident but informed the other student's parents.

In the social media video, the mother said that she got to know about the assault from her son, who told her that his butt was grabbed by his classmate, who also told him that he will “rape” him. “This kid is in my son’s class and sits right behind my son,” Ann mentioned in the caption.

The video was reportedly shared on TikTok on January 31 which showed a meeting between Ann and the school’s principal, who told her the “investigation” in the case is still ongoing. He also added that the school is “trying to see what [they’re] going to do with” the accused and his parents.

In the TikTok video, the mother insisted that the other kid’s parents knew about the assault but the principal did not admit that the school had informed them. Addressing the principal, Ann said, “So you let somebody sexually assault my child?” The principal did not respond to that but accepted that the other student’s actions were 'inappropriate'.” "And you’re still allowing this child in the school?” the mother asked to which the principal just nodded.

Ann then wrote in the comment section of the video that she thinks the principal is “a quack” and stated that she has taken help from police and reported the incident. She added, “But trust and believe I will not stop until something is done. I should have been notified by the school.”

A number of people supported Ann in the video as one person, whose username is @clegane.am.beag, wrote, “You inform one set of parents, you inform BOTH sets. Full stop. Completely inappropriate.” Another one identified as @christyrenea2 said, “My blood is boiling. This man’s total lack of compassion for you and your son.” “That student should be expelled,” @alexservestea suggested.

A user named @thegreerstho said, “Call CPS the cops the news. And sue them.” And @brittles38az added, “Get a lawyer! Please please. These districts need to be held responsible. These people are not protecting our kids.”

Ann did not reveal in the video in which class her son was or his age but according to Equal Rights Advocates Know Your Child’s Rights Guide on K-5 Sexual Harassment & Assault, “Sexual harassment, assault, and abuse are sadly all too common in the K-5 (kindergarten through 5th grade) setting. Unfortunately, there is not much specific numerical data collected on a large scale to reflect the devastating reality of sexual harassment in elementary schools across the country. Nonetheless, numerous studies, stories, and legal cases confirm the reality of peer-on-peer and teacher-on-child sexual harassment, assault, and abuse among children of this age.”

Also, as per Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, some of the children’s rights include, “Feeling safe at school, Having their report of sexual harassment or assault taken seriously and investigated within a reasonable timeframe, and Receiving certain protections such as ensuring that your child can avoid interactions with their harasser/assailant in class.”
