'Vikings' season 5 finale: What to expect when brother battles brother and gods wage war in 'Ragnarok'
It's not just the brothers who will battle it out for the throne of Kattegat, even the gods will wage war in the season finale of 'Vikings' 5B tonight. The penultimate episode 'What Happens in the Cave,' juxtaposed Ubbe's acceptance of the old gods with Floki's discovery of the Cross in the cave, while Hvitserk's view of the world has been strongly influenced by the teachings of the Buddha. With the finale titled 'Ragnarok' - the epic final battle of the gods in Norse mythology - here's what we can expect from the finale premiering tonight on the History Channel.
1. Bjorn and Hvitserk will strike Kattegat
The good news is that two brothers have joined forces to attack Kattegat and dethrone Ivar, but the bad news is Ivar's men spot the duo and inform the tyrant of the attack. Ivar gets time to prepare for the attack. Greeting his brothers' armies with archers and commands to burn them alive, Ivar is heard shouting at Bjorn "My brother, you’ve come too late - burn them alive." Soon enough men are engulfed in flames.
