'Vikings' season 5 episode 16: 'The Buddha' depicts a hint of the darkness the Seer warned us about

Ivar the Boneless hatches plans to attack Wessex while Bjorn joins King Harald to take Kattegat back from Ivar

The Seer had predicted darkness and doom before getting brutally murdered by Ivar the Boneless. The upcoming episode of 'Vikings' season 5, titled 'The Buddha,' seems to demonstrate what the doom will be about. With Lagertha missing from the living and the dead, an unlikely alliance is formed between the eldest son of Ragnar, Bjorn, and King Harald. Ivar the Boneless plays upon the defeat of King Harald and plans on conquering Wessex.

The promo trailer starts with Torvi affirming to Bjorn that she loves Lagertha and she knows that "she is still alive and will return someday.” Lagertha vanished in the last episode after seeing her ex-lover, Bishop Heahmund, get slaughtered on the battlefield. Lagertha, herself, was struck on her legs as she helplessly watched Heahmund shout her name when hit by arrows.
