The tornado hit a building and caused a car pileup

The terrifying tornado also hit a Palm Beach Gardens apartment complex and caused a four-car pileup in the parking lot while multiple other vehicles slammed into each other due to the impact of the storm. Multiple vehicles were left awry in their spaces as the tornado rolled through, the outlet reported. Although the building sustained minimal damage, residents inside were left “terrified,” WPBF's Steve King reported.

Shawn MacNamara, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, said he ducked down in his car when the storm passed and claimed it was the “scariest thing ever," as per the Daily Mail. Reports suggest roads across the town were also blocked by fallen palm trees. Around 3,300 homes in Palm Beach went without power, Power Outage US reported. Police officers reportedly sat in intersections to help direct traffic where the lights went out.

‘Zero idea why people live there’

As the video of the car getting tossed on the road due to the Palm Beach tornado surfaced online, some social media users took to Facebook to react to the clip. “Florida. zero idea why people live there at all,” one said. “Where's superman when we need him,” another added. One joked, “Proof that driving a Prius is blasphemy," while another argued, “The person could have been injured and THAT'S your first thought?”

Several other weather warnings issued across Florida

In the wake of the Palm Beach tornado, several other weather warnings were issued across Florida. South Florida is expected to endure severe weather, with wind gusts up to 50mph. Southern Florida is expected to be in the 80s despite the torrential rain, the outlet noted. Severe thunderstorm warnings were also announced for Orange and Seminole counties. Additionally, a tornado warning was also placed for the Tampa Bay area, as per the Daily Mail.

Potential tornados hail, and strong winds are expected as the storm continues to move across Florida. Tampa Bay has been placed at a level two for severe storms and damaging winds with large hails have been cited as the primary concerns, according to WTSP. Coastal towns are also expected to suffer the effect of the storm but the calamity will reportedly weaken while continuing south.
