SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: The internet is on fire as the video of Lady Gaga being vomited on at the SXSW performance in 2014 resurfaced. Netizens are now drawing similarities between Sam Smith's and Kim Petra's performance of 'Unholy' at the 65th edition of Grammy Awards which was criticized for its Satanic representation. 

Gaga's performance video that resurfaced on social media portrays performance artist Millie Brown dipping her fingers down her throat and vomiting out a green-colored liquid to the breasts of the 'Bloody Mary' singer. The video went viral again after podcaster Elijah Schaffer came up with a tweet, "Why are we not talking about Lady GaGa having a young girl vomit on her chest during a performance?"

What was the controversy on Sam Smith's and Kim Petra's performance at the Grammys 2023? 

The performance of Sam Smith and Kim Petra of their Grammy award-winning song, 'Unholy', sparked controversy for its satanic representation. The entire performance was set in a red tone and he was seen evolving from a group of dancers whereas Petras performed from inside a cage. Sam performed with whips, chains, and devil horns. During the performance, he donned a Satanic horn hat and many of the dancers also carried the same which sparked controversy claiming that it was a satanic representation, as per Forbes. 

What was Millie Brown's response to the 'vomit video?'

The performance artist claimed in 2004, Gaga appreciated her performance. “She appreciates performance art. So doing that stuff live with her, with that kind of energy from the crowd, was really amazing. It worked really amazingly with that song and the idea of purging all that bad energy and getting rid of it.” Demi Lovato also criticized this act and tweeted in 2004, "Sad... As if we didn't have enough people glamorizing eat disorders already. Bottom line, it's not "cool" or "artsy" at all." Brown responded to it by saying on Vice," “We didn’t glamorize anything. All of my performances are meant to inspire viewers to question the concept of classic beauty and femininity, rather than perpetuate those standards girls and women are faced with every day; the ones that cause eating disorders in the first place.”

'This is attention seeking'

The Internet is now comparing the two performances. A user said, "I love lady gaga, but this!! Seems to me this is attention seeking. If we ignore this childish behaviour perhaps it will go away." Another wrote, "I’ve just got this from @calvinrobinson’s Twitter, It’s of @ladygaga getting a dancer to throw up on her in the name of art.. With @samsmith’s latest performances , it’s my opinion that these people are trolling the public with their warped ideas." "Cardi b promotes prostitution Madonna promotes ageism Lady Gaga promotes bulimia Sam Smith promotes the devil And yet the UK government spent billions on re-educating children about Andrew Tate," tweeted a user. 

Another wrote, "From Sam Smith to Lady Gaga….can we sink any lower?" A user noted, "The correlation between the likes of Madonna, Sam Smith and Lady Gaga is they are all has-beens craving attention. If they ever even had a small amount of talent at the start of their careers, it’s long gone. It all screams ‘look at me, I did something outrageous’. Best ignored." Another added, "We are entering the gates of hell 'Artists' attention seeking debauched ways Lady Gaga Sam Smith don't appreciate their raw talent.
