VP Debate 2020: Does Pence look pale with pink eyes? Internet raises Covid-19 alarm ‘get Harris out of there’
Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris squared off on the 90-minute debate stage Wednesday night, October 7, 2020, at the University of Utah's Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City. Moderated by Susan Page, the 90-minute debate began with the burning topic of coronavirus as Harris branded the response to the Covid-19 pandemic under Donald Trump as the "greatest failure" of any US administration.
"The American people have witnessed what is the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country," the running mate to Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said. The candidates — who have been seated just over 12 feet apart, as opposed to the original 7 feet that had been planned after the outbreak of Covid-19 in the White House — also spoke about the vaccine, the Biden plan and climate change.
A pair of plexiglass barriers separated the two and two were seen standing behind a desk. Tested ahead of time, the two didn't shake hands and there were "a small number of ticketed guests" who were also tested before the debate with masks compulsorily needed in the debate hall.
No sooner did the debate begin, several people on the Internet wondered if Pence was fine as they claimed his face looked "pale" and his eyes looked "pink". "Why does pence look so bad tonight?? He has red eyes, more pale than normal..." one tweet read and another said, "Does Pence look sick or was he just crying before going on stage?" A third chimed in, "Is it just me or does Pence looks sick. His eyes are bloodshot and yellow."

Many even raised an alarm for Covid-19. "Why does Pence look sick and tired? Covid alert," one tweet read and another said, "Does Pence have pink eye? Covid symptom alert." Another posted, "Does Pence have pink eye? That’s a Covid synonym. Get Harris out of there!" A fourth one also noticed the same and wrote, "Omg! Does Pence have pinkeye? Isn't that a sign of a Covid infection!"
