Mike Pence praises Donald Trump for not starting 'new wars', Internet says 'domestic war is still war'
Donald Trump might be holed up inside the White House following his impeachment leaving US Vice President Mike Pence as the interim commander-in-chief, but the desperation to omit any errors from his legacy is still high. This is evident from Pence's latest tweets as he tried to make some amends in by pointing out that their administration did not start any new wars.
Taking to Twitter, Pence made some very powerful claims. "I’m proud to report with just a few days left in our Administration, our Administration is the first in decades that did not get America into a new war. That’s Peace through Strength," he wrote.

Clearly, Pence's tweet is an attempt to make amends since it does not take into account the polarization and divide that Trump introduced to the nation.
Twitter was, however, quick to bring to his attention all the atrocities that the Trump administration had inflicted on its own people in the country. "Maybe not a foreign war. You just managed to start a civil war at home. DC looks very different today than four years ago," a user reminded him. "That’s a lie and you know this. The only administration that has caused war within the country is more like it," another user concurred. "Just a violent insurrection at home prompted by the leader of your administration- no biggie though," a user wrote. And one user put is simply, "Domestic war is still war".

Some reminded him that the Trump administration legacy is far from golden. "You fled Syria and surrendered in Afghanistan. North Korea is stronger. Our allies are thrilled to see you go. China and Russia are on the ascendancy. Hardly a proud legacy," one tweeted. Another user added that the Trump administration need not wage a war with a different nation when our own people are the enemies. "Not true ...internal war is more dangerous to deal with ... when the enemy is ur statesman... we are at war with ourselves... the internal divide is now deeper than ever .... You failed". "400,000 dead. An attack on the Capitol, mobs hunting elected officials with nooses. Thanks for your observation, but you and Trump killed more of us than an enemy ever could," another added.

Let's not forget that Pence was deemed a "traitor" by Trump and his MAGA supporters when the VP said he can do little to actually overturn the election results. Trump and his followers had hoped that Pence would "do the right thing", but when things did not go their way, the mob was ready to lynch him, with many others saying that he should be executed. L. Lin Wood, an attorney and QAnon supporter closely tied to Trump, wrote in a post on Parler, "Get the firing squad ready," adding "Pence goes FIRST". It was also reported that Pence came "dangerously close" to the rioters that day and was not evacuated from the Senate chambers until 14 minutes after the breach was reported. Sources close to the Vice President had reportedly said that "Trump just can't admit defeat and wants a scapegoat."
