Val Kilmer played some of the most illustrious characters of pop culture like Doc Holliday, Batman and Jim Morrison and gave the world a whole array of fascinating movies The actor sure has a lot to share with the world about his work, roles and stories of his achievements. But there’s more to this Hollywood legend than just that and what you have seen on screen.

Kilmer packs the most interesting chapters of his life in an all-encompassing memoir. The new book, titled 'I’m Your Huckleberry', features different phases of the actor’s life from birth to his present day. The 60-year old star opens up about his family, relationships, work, love, acting, beliefs, and goes all tender and vulnerable in penning down his life.

In one of the chapters, he shares about the divine intervention that he once had. Yes, you heard that right. Val Kilmer, as he says in the memoir, was once visited by an angel. For context, Kilmer was raised as a devout Christian Scientist, by his parents. Whether he followed the faith and its path throughout his life is not known. But as mentioned in the book, he invoked his faith when he was battling with cancer. He believes that his healing had more to do with God and not the medical treatments.

During this time, singer Cher also helped him get through the illness and was by his side, which he includes in another chapter on love and relationships and the two most important women of his life.

“I went along with the program, mainly to reassure my children I was doing everything ‘humanly’ possible to be healthy. They had been constantly taught by others in their lives to be wary of Christian Science, and although they had each had several extraordinary healings in my opinion, I respected their skepticism and did not wish to increase their fear in any way,” Kilmer writes in his book.

And this is where he recalls an incident that happened with him and made him believe that he saw an angel. Kilmer was 24 and was visiting New Mexico. On his trip, he woke up to an “amorphous black figure.”

In the memoir, he writes, “It will ruin the absolute gravity of this moment but in truth this dark angel looked very like Darth Vader, though without the helmet.”

He goes on to describe what happens next. He says that “the angel reached into his body and extracted his heart to replace it with a bigger one”.

“At first I thought it was the Angel of Death before realizing it was the Angel of Life. I wish I could elucidate the experience more than I have already done, but I can’t. It simply happened. I have nothing else to say about this, except that I am grateful for the new heart. It has served me well. And I’ve only just begun to use it,” he explains.
