The US Open is all set to provide some intense sporting action with Novak Djokovic taking on Damir Dzumhur in the First Round on August 31. For the Serb, the Western & Southern Open has served as the perfect warm-up as he beat Milos Raonic 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, and enters the US Open with a 23-0 record this year. Djokovic made headlines off the court as well after resigning as the president of ATP Players Council and then asked for the forming of an independent council created solely by the players.

As far as his competition goes, Dzumhur has met Djokovic twice and has been at the losing end in both the encounters. According to Tennis live, Dzumhur comes into this year’s US Open with an 8-8 record and is ranked 107th. Here's a quick primer ahead of the clash.

Time

The match is slated to start at 7 pm ET on August 31, 2020.

Venue

Both players will face off on the hardcourt of Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Where to watch?

Fans can watch the game live on ESPN and The Tennis Channel.

How to live stream?

For those without cable, the matches can be live-streamed by purchasing Sling TV's $30 per month Orange package. Hulu and YouTube TV carries ESPN and ESPN2 which can be availed at $55 per month and $64.99 respectively.

Pre-match buzz

Djokovic will be looking at winning his fourth US Open title and his 18th Major overall when he takes the court against Dzumhur on Monday. With a 23-0 record this year, he's been in stupendous touch and after his fourth W&S title win, he will be keen on extending the good run. The only distraction might come from the resignation as ATP Players Council President, but looking at the way he put that behind to ace the Cincinnati Masters and his head-to-head against the Bosnian, this might be a walk in the park.

Dzumhur had a bad run losing in the first round of qualifying for the W&S Open to Dennis Novak last week and now he has a stiffer challenge against Djokovic. The last time the two played, it was in 2018 where he was effortlessly beaten by the Serb. They squared off again in 2019 only for Dzumhur to lose 6-1, 6-2.

Who will win?

Djokovic comes in as the hot favorite to win the Open. Most pundits have predicted an easy win against Dzumhur. Given the recent form and the past record of both the players, Djokovic might just breeze past.
