U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn made a statement during the first day of the January 6th Committee by wearing a T-shirt with some vital information. Even though Dunn did not testify on Thursday, June 9, he came bearing a message and a pretty strong one. He wore a tee with two definitions of the word 'insurrection.' One meaning was derived from the Oxford Essential Dictionary of the U.S. military which stated, 'A violent uprising against an authority or government'. The other meaning simply said, 'January 6, 2021.' The rally on January 6, 2021, turned violent as protestors were gathered in support of Trump, supporting the false claim of having his win snubbed by Biden.

The other definition which is not so subtle goes on to say that he strongly believes that the protest-turned-riot on January 6, 2021, was an attempt to overthrow democracy and that everyone involved in this riot was an insurrectionist. After the hearing, he told the reporters, "So many people have been saying that it wasn’t an insurrection, from trolls on the internet to elected officials." so he wanted to make a statement by wearing this t-shirt.

Harry Dunn was also seen getting emotional along with officer and support witness Caroline Edwards as they both watched a clip of the unfateful event where Edwards got injured. He said, "I looked at her like a little sister. I was just really proud of her. The pain was palpable. You can feel it. And that was just really rough to get through." Dunn was amongst the four officers who testified to the House Committee and helped kick off this massive investigation against the coup attempt. He had been vocal about the incident throughout and even raised his voice for the police offers who committed suicide post the riot.

Internet reacts to Harry Dunn's message

People are raving over Dunn's t-shirt message, the fact that he got emotional during the testimony, and how much he appreciates Caroline Edwards. One user wrote, "We’re loving Officer Harry Dunn’s t-shirt as he calls Officer Edwards a “she-ro” and admits her testimony brought him to tears." Another use said, "#January6thCommitteeHearings God bless the incredible Officers who risked their lives to protect Congress and the Capitol. Bless Harry Dunn supporting the wife & partner of 2 officers that lost their lives. What incredible human beings who are definitely patriotic American heroes!"

Harry Dunn kept promoting his message after the hearing as well. One user pointed out the same and said, "VIDEO: Officer Harry Dunn tells reporters he wants to "reiterate what the actual definition of insurrection is" with his now-famous t-shirt." Another user wrote, "Harry Dunn is wearing a tee shirt with a (perhaps creative) definition of the word “insurrection” on it to these hearings. King shit. #Jan6th"

The support for the officers who were dragged through the riot is real. One pro-police supporter wrote, "Broke my heart to see tears rolling down Harry Dunn’s face. That poor man is having to relive the most horrendous day of his life, right along with the other Capitol Polices and widows." Another user wrote, "Officer Harry Dunn is an excellent human. I just want to give him a big ol' hug. Probably more than one, but I don't want to be creepy."
