In recent shootings, at least six people were killed on July 4 after an active shooter armed with a powerful rifle opened fire from a rooftop at a Fourth of July parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park.
Earlier on May 24, 19 children and 2 teachers unfortunately lost their lives after a shooter opened fire in a classroom at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, west of San Antonio. Police waited for about 78 minutes outside before breaching the classroom where the carnage was taking place. "An overall lackadaisical approach" by authorities might have contributed to an increase in the death toll, according to a recent report.
