'Turn Up Charlie' preview: Idris Elba may not need a second chance in life but DJ Charlie sure does, new trailer proves it
Co-created by Elba himself, the actor has taken his love for music and transformed it into a series about family and fame
Idris Elba was a DJ at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding and will also perform at Coachella this year, but that the award-winning actor is also a star DJ going by the moniker DJ Big Driis, shouldn't be a surprise. Elba, aka the "sexiest man alive," will be playing the role of a struggling DJ-turned-manny in the upcoming Netflix comedy 'Turn Up Charlie.'
Though partly reflective of his life, Elba, who is no stranger to streaking gold in anything and everything he does, will be donning an avatar on TV, unlike by him before. The 'Luther' star, synonymous to macho roles like that of Heimdall in 'Thor,' or Stringer Bell in 'The Wire,' will be playing the comedic role of a manny to a Hollywood brat.
