A college student in Minnesota, who reportedly supports President Donald Trump, allegedly waved a loaded gun at a driver in a fit of rage. According to authorities, the man, identified as 27-year-old Joseph R. Schumacher, became enraged by the female driver for a bumper sticker she had on her vehicle of 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren.

Schumacher, a student at Minnesota State University Moorhead, was charged on Wednesday after the encounter with the18-year-old woman near Concordia College in Moorhead two days earlier, according to the Star Tribune. The woman told authorities that Schumacher pulled up next to her car as they drove and screamed his "dislike for the political bumper sticker" which showed her support for Warren. The 27-year-old then pointed to the Trump-Pence bumper sticker on his car as he told the teen about "his difference in national political views."

Moorhead Police Capt. Deric Swenson, while talking to the outlet, said: "The victim initially thought it wasn’t going to be serious. Then things escalated seriously."

According to a criminal complaint, Schumacher, after driving beside the woman for a few blocks, cut in front of her car and waved a pistol at her. The woman promptly alerted the authorities who caught up with the college student, who was wearing a Trump 2020 cap, at a Kurdish restaurant.

When officers asked him questions regarding the incident, he told them that he had been flirting with the woman and her female passenger. However, one of the people in the student's car admitted to police that he did pull out a gun during the encounter. Prosecutors later characterized it as a road rage incident.

A loaded handgun, a second unloaded firearm, and a magazine were later discovered in Schumacher's car. He was subsequently charged with carrying a gun without a permit and unlawful transport of firearms before being released.
