#TrumpHatesOurMilitary: Trump's prenup with Marla Maples shows he'd have cut off Tiffany if she ever joined army

The prenup said the payments would stop prematurely if Tiffany got a full-time job, enlisted in the military or joined the Peace Corps

After the Atlantic published a report about President Donald Trump allegedly calling dead soldiers "losers" and "suckers," and refusing to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018 to honor the dead service members, social media users dug up an old news report about the POTUS making his second wife, Marla Maples, sign a “draconian'' prenup according to which, Trump would stop making child support payments for Tiffany Trump — the daughter he shared with Maples — if she ever enlisted in the military or joined the Peace Corps.

Trump was pretty pressed for money when he decided to marry Maples in the fall of 1993, as he faced bankruptcy from his three casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey, defaulting on $3.4 million in debt and being forced to sell a 282-foot yacht, his Trump Shuttle airline and his stake in New York City’s Plaza Hotel, according to a Vanity Fair report. On top of that, he ended up agreeing to give his first wife, Ivana Trump, their jointly-owned Connecticut estate and pay $650,000 annually to support children Don Jr, Ivanka and Eric.

But Maples was hell-bent on getting married as she has already given birth to the couple's daughter, amid reports that Trump had an extramarital affair with her while being married to Ivana in 1987. So at 47, a Trump who was desperate to hold onto the money that he had left, decided to marry Maples on the condition that she would sign a prenup.

The prenup in question gave Maples only $1 million if they separated within five years of marriage (although she initially wanted $25 million) plus another $1 million to buy a house. The prenup added that Trump also would stop making $100,000 child support payments for Tiffany when she turned 21. The payments would stop prematurely if Tiffany got a full-time job, enlisted in the military or joined the Peace Corps. “The way it was drawn up is ironclad and shows how wary he was,” famed divorce attorney Raoul Felder told Vanity Fair. “He was leaving nothing to chance.”

Since Trump's reportedly disparaging comments on deceased military members spread like wildfire across social media last week, it did not take long for people to be outraged over the old news about the prenup as they became convinced that the president lacked respect for the military. The following are some of the reactions:

A user said, "Trump made his 2nd wife, Marla Maples, sign a prenup that would have cut off all child support if Tiffany joined the military (reported June 4th, 2019) #TrumpHatesOurMilitary"

"Ask Don, Jr. what his father thinks of our military? His father and Ivana threatened to disinherit him if he joined! Ask Marla Maples! Trump threatened that if Tiffany joined the military, child support would stop! #TrumpHatesOurVeterans," added another.

One said, "#TrumpHatesOurVeterans He hates everyone! He made Marla Maples his 2nd baby mama sign that If his daughter Tiffany Trump ever joined the military or Peace Corp he would disown her! Don’t believe me, LOOK IT UP!"

"Why is no one talking about Trump’s pre nup with Marla Maples? It stated that if Tiffany joined the peace corp, military or got a full time job he would cut off the child support payments. Most people would be proud of a child that did that!" another tweeted.

A user posted, "Speaking of official documents, Trump’s pre-nup with Marla Maples states that Trump would disown his own then infant daughter if he dared to join the military. Not only does he think soldiers are suckers and losers, he thinks his cult are, too."

"It's not much but in his 1993 prenup w/Marla Maples it states child support payments for Tiffany would cease if she were to join the Peace Corps, get a full-time job or join the military. This info supports his disdain for the military and service in general."

"If your family is so patriotic, why no military service for any of you? Why the stipulation in the prenup with Marla Maples that Tiffany would be cut off if she joined the military?"

"Tiffany Trump's child support payments would have been ended by Donald if she joined the military: Marla Maples prenup Such a frickin loser and fraud. He is not who he pretends to be or says that is he..100% con man and fraudster," added another.
