Trump says Dems are trying to 'disenfranchise' voters and conning them, his supporters say 'he's gonna fight'

Albeit there is still no basis for the president's accusations of fraud, they will possibly warrant a full-fledged investigation

President Donald Trump appeared rather miffed by the unprecedented delay in determining the winner of the 2020 election — bemoaning to his supporters how he had repeatedly sounded the alarm about possible voter fraud with respect to mail-in ballots. Trump even threatened to move the courts alleging questionable polling practices and declared victory in doing so — calling the quagmire "an embarrassment to our country."

Albeit there is still no basis for the president's accusations of fraud, they will possibly warrant a full-fledged investigation and the fate of the election could ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court. “This is, without question, the latest news conference I’ve ever had,” Trump quipped as he started speaking at the White House. He then accused Democrats of effectively trying to “disenfranchise” his supporters. “We will not stand for it,” he added.

“This is a fraud on the American public,” the president continued. “This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election.”

Of course, the president has not won re-election as yet, and battleground states including Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are still in play. Trump expressed confidence about winning Pennsylvania, as the state continued to count ballots. “Most importantly we’re winning Pennsylvania by a tremendous amount of votes,” he said, although there are many votes still pending in the pivotal swing state and the winner is yet to be determined. Meanwhile, the president also celebrated victories in Florida and Texas as the nation awaited results from key battlegrounds in the mid-west. “It’s also clear that we have won Georgia,” Trump said at the White House. “They can’t catch us.”

The commander-in-chief vowed to fight the results of the election at the Supreme Court. “We will be going to the US supreme court. We want all voting to stop,” Trump said. The process of counting valid ballots in key swing states could continue for days, per The Guardian. But while political pundits and critics lashed out at the president's declaration of victory and yet-unfounded claims of voter fraud, pro-Trump netizens rushed to his defense.

"Trump is going to fight: 'This is a fraud on the American public... Frankly, we did win this election. So our goal now is to ensure the integrity for the good of this nation'," blogger Daryush Valizadeh tweeted, quoting Trump. "Incredible. Voter fraud, if it happened, won't even affect the results in Pennsylvania. Trump is leading by over 500,000 votes," journalist Ian Miles Cheong added.

"President Trump didn’t claim victory, he claimed a fraud against the American people. He’s claiming that he WILL win and he WILL make sure it’s done fairly. The media is overreacting per usual," author Brigitte Gabriel chimed in. "Everything seems to be working out just as the media and Democrats planned. We should be concerned, but I believe there will be enough oversight to catch much of the voter fraud. I am still expecting President Trump to win re-election. #Election2020," one Twitter user wrote. "My prediction: Trump wins, and wins convincingly. Will it be beyond the margin of fraud and litigation? That remains to be seen," author Roger Kimball added.
