Trump says Biden 'no longer worthy of the Black Vote' for suggesting lack of diversity in community
On Friday, August 7, President Donald Trump declared that his presumptive Democratic challenger Joe Biden “is no longer worthy of the Black Vote,” after the former vice president made controversial comments about the African-American community when he contrasted it with the Latino community.
"After yesterday’s statement, Sleepy Joe Biden is no longer worthy of the Black Vote!" Trump tweeted Friday morning. The tweet came after he posted an almost identical tweet, where he wrote, “Sleepy Joe Biden just lost the Black Vote. This statement is a disaster from which there is no recovery!” The president then proceeded to delete the tweet and replace it with the new one.

A number of Trump supporters agreed with the president's tweet. ''With every racist sentence Joe Biden mumbles, Donald Trump gets a little closer to WINNING the Black vote this election,'' one such user commented.

Similarly, another user commented: "Joe Biden hasn’t been worthy of the black vote for years now, President Trump. His entire history with race is sordid and filled with awful statements, terrible policies, and a record that rivals some of the worst & most racist leaders in our nation’s history. We won’t be fooled!"

However, as always, Trump''s tweet was also met with significant criticism from the left-wing voters. "I'm from Ohio and will not be voting for the Cheeto" one such person said.
Another commented: "Donald John Trump is a clear and present danger to the U.S. and the world. He must be removed."

Trump was referring to the remarks made by Biden during an interview that aired at the convention of the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists. When Biden was asked whether he would “re-engage” with Cuba as a president, which could potentially have an impact on Cuban-American voters in Florida, Biden made some questionable comments.
“Yes, yes," Biden responded. "And by the way, what you all know, but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things. You go to Florida, you find a very different attitude about immigration in certain places than you do when you're in Arizona, so it's a very diverse community.”
After facing backlash, on Thursday night, he attempted to recant his remarks.
“Earlier today, I made some comments about diversity in the African American and Latino communities that I want to clarify," Biden wrote on Twitter in a series of tweets. "In no way did I mean to suggest the African American community is a monolith—not by identity, not on issues, not at all. Throughout my career. I've witnessed the diversity of thought, background, and sentiment within the African American community. It's this diversity that makes our workplaces, communities, and country a better place. My commitment to you is this: I will always listen, I will never stop fighting for the African American community and I will never stop fighting for a more equitable future.”
