The grand jury decided to indict former police officer Brett Hankison on criminal charges nearly six months after Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old Black EMT, was allegedly shot dead by police in Louisville, Kentucky on March 13. It was declared on September 23.

While Hankison has reportedly been charged with three counts of "wanton endangerment" over shots that were fired into a neighboring apartment, the other two officers who discharged their weapons that night -- Jonathan Mattingly and Myles Cosgrove -- have not been charged. Hankison was fired from his job after nationwide outrage over Taylor's death. People were not happy with the decision and protesters came took to the street to express disappointment.

As per CNN, two officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department were shot during protests of the Breonna Taylor case, and the same was confirmed by the interim chief of the Louisville Police Department in a press briefing. Interim Police Chief Robert Schroeder told reporters that one officer is in surgery, and both are in stable condition. A suspect is in custody, according to Schroeder. “I am very concerned about the safety of our officers,” Schroeder said. Around 8.30 pm ET, officers were deployed downtown after shots were fired in a crowded area. “We have had two officers shot tonight and it's very serious. It's a dangerous condition. I think the safety of the officers and community we serve is utmost importance,” Schroeder added. The names of the officers were not released.

President Donald Trump tweeted about the officers and said, “Praying for the two police officers that were shot tonight in Louisville, Kentucky. The Federal Government stands behind you and is ready to help. Spoke to @GovAndyBeshear and we are prepared to work together, immediately upon request!”

Like all his tweets, this one also had a lot of reactions. One said, “Sir, please declare BLM and Antifa domestic terrorists and invoke the Insurrection Act. No more cops should be allowed to be shot by these animals!! It is time to fight back Sir!!!!” Another supporter said, “It's so nice to have a president who backs the blue and petitions the Lord on our behalf. Thank you, Mr. President.” Another said, “This was absolutely terrible and unfortunately predictable from these violent mobs who aren’t interested in fairness, justice or reason ... only revenge. Prayers for the officers, their families and all other LEO’s in the line of duty.” One opined, “Squash this madness. Please! Swiftly and overwhelmingly. Mr. President and Governor Beshear, it's gone too far. Put it down. Federal sentences to avoid these Soros backed DAs and prosecutors. Long sentences. High bonds. Make examples.” One stated, "Thank you Mr. President! My husband is one of the many officers working in Louisville tonight. We appreciate your prayers and support."

However, one user slammed him saying, “FYI - there was a woman named Breonna Taylor who was also shot, but this happened quite some time ago.  Have you heard?  Cops kicked the door in and shot her 7 times while she was in bed.  Here's the real kicker -- they entered THE WRONG HOME!!!” Another said, “Praying for the police officers AND Breonna Taylor and her family that didn’t get justice today.”
