Trump ‘one of worst’ US presidents ever say 42% of voters while 22% say one of the best, finds Fox News poll

A Fox News poll released on Friday revealed that the respondents have mixed reviews about President Donald Trump's handling of issues as well as overall performance after assuming office in 2016. A majority of them ultimately stated that the United States is worse off now than it was four years ago.

This survey was conducted between December 6-9, 2020 under the joint direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company (R). This poll includes interviews with 1,007 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide who spoke with live interviewers over the phone and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points for all registered voters.

This survey revealed that the voters' views on the state of the economy in the country are similar yet changed compared to the pre-Trump era. One-third (33 percent) of voters rated the economic conditions positively (excellent/good) while two-thirds rated it in a negative light (66 percent only fair/poor). This according to Fox News is quite alike to the ratings yielded in a poll conducted in December 2016.

Changes at the extreme were also noted in this survey. Almost four times as many said that the economy is in top shape currently (11 percent) as opposed to 3 percent results from 2016's poll. Similarly, more voters described the conditions today as "poor" which is a record 34 percent vs 23 percent who did so in 2016.

The Trump administration hit gold in January 2020 as a huge section of voters rated the economy as excellent. This was a huge deal considering that this was by far the highest portion of respondents feeling this way in data going back to 1998. However, in later March this year, the number saw a huge drop when it reached 12 percent. There was another significant fall in this number and it went as low as 6 percent in May, two months after President Trump declared a national emergency to deal with the coronavirus crisis on March 13, 2020. The survey also covered questions regarding individual growth as well as the situations with their families. 33 percent of respondents said that their family was better off now than they were four years ago whereas 30 percent say their situations are rock bottom under the Trump administration. 36% voted to say their situations have remained unchanged. Similarly while commenting on where they think the country stood in terms of where it was four years ago, 33 percent voted that situations are better now. Opposing them were results from 55 percent of voters that said that the country is worse off under Trump's leadership.

When asked to predict how history will remember Trump and his administration, 22 percent said he will go down as one of the greatest Presidents America has ever witnessed. While twice as many, around 42 percent believe he will be known as one of the worst. At the beginning of his term in office, 11 percent of voters had predicted that he will be one of the greatest while 31 percent had said he'd be the worse.
