Trump and Kim Jong-un’s ‘love letters’ from Bob Woodward's book fluster Internet as they ask ‘is this real?’
Bob Woodward’s forthcoming book 'Rage' reportedly consists of private letters shared between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un, which make us look at the relationship between the US president and North Korean Dictator in a completely different light. While Woodward gained access to 25 “never-before-seen letters” Trump and Kim exchanged, CNN has obtained transcripts of two of their letters which have plenty of highly intriguing conversations between the two leaders.
According to CNN, Trump has described these as “love letters” in the interview with Woodward, who has noted that they show Trump and Kim’s “diplomatic courtship.” The author has written that the letters are filled with “declarations of personal fealty that might be uttered by the Knights of the Round Table, or perhaps suitors.”
Kim’s first letter to Trump, dated 25 December 2018, sees the North Korean leader addressing POTUS as “Your Excellency” as he gushes about their meeting for the “historic DPRK-US summit in Singapore.” Kim's letter reads, “Even now I cannot forget that moment of history when I firmly held Your Excellency's hand at that beautiful and sacred location as the whole world watched with great interest and hope to relive the honor of that day.” The later segment of the letter focuses on the second DPRK summit as Kim talks about “speeding up the preparations” and “achieve good results with Your Excellency.”
Meanwhile, the other letter is written by Kim on June 10, 2019, to Trump reminding the president of the first anniversary of their meeting in Singapore in June 12. Kim states, “the historic moment of great significance that captured the attention of the world and left an imprint still indelible in my memory.” The letter further reads, “Like the brief time we had together a year ago in Singapore, every minute we shared 103 days ago in Hanoi was also a moment of glory that remains a precious memory.”
While Trump refused to reveal any other details regarding the letters to Woodward, he reportedly “name-checked Kim” and “dissed former President Barack Obama,” reports Daily Mail. Trump allegedly said, “I think he's highly overrated. And I don't think he's a great speaker,” Trump said of the noted orator and further added that the South Korean dictator thought that Obama was “an a**hole.”
These letters have now made their way into the Internet and the users couldn’t stop marveling at the conversation that happened between Trump and Kim. Reacting to it one, Twitter user wrote, “Trump likes to brag about the love letters and love relationship he has with Kim Jong Un. He admires dictators like Putin. They know this and use it to manipulate him. Like send him love letters. Vote Trump & Republicans out! Vote Hickenlooper.”

David Pakman, the host of a YouTube talk radio program tweeted, “Reading Kim Jong Un's letters to Trump explains why Trump was smitten. Kim referred to Trump as 'your excellency.' Trump loves sycophants and it's as simple as that.”
