President Donald Trump posted a video on Twitter on Saturday, September 29, claiming that the Democrats wanted to take away the freedom of the Americans.

Dressed in a blue suit, Trump said in the video shot outside the white house, "The Democrats want to take away your guns, they want to take away your health care, they want to take away your vote, they want to take away your freedom!"

Referring to the new inquiry being pushed by Congressional Democrats to impeach him for pressurizing the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to look into former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, he said, "What's going on now is the single greatest scam in the history of American politics."

He added in the video, "They want to take away everything. We can never let this happen. We’re fighting to drain the swamp, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. It’s all very simple."

Concluding the clip, he said, "They're trying to stop me because I'm fighting for you, and I'll never let that happen."

The impeachment was announced last week with the Democrats arguing that Trump had violated his oath. The inquiry has sparked a series of reactions from political figures in the country and some Republican presidential candidates for 2020 have also supported the impeachment.

GOP candidate Bill Weld even called for the death penalty for Trump for committing treason.

The Twitter video was posted as a part of an NPR-PBS NewsHour-Marist survey, according to The Hill, which found that 49 percent of Americans were in favor of the impeachment.

"The poll shows that the public has serious concern over the Trump actions," Mark Penn, the co-director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris survey said, according to the publication adding that the numbers were higher than when the Mueller investigation report was being discussed.
