In the wake of the upcoming 2020 elections, President Donald Trump seems to be leaving no stone unturned to attack his counterparts and predecessors. In one such tweet, Trump took to slam former President Barack Obama for "destroying" the lobster and fishing industry.

"Pres. Obama destroyed the lobster and fishing industry in Maine. Now it’s back, bigger and better than anyone ever thought possible. Enjoy your “lobstering” and fishing! Make lots of money!" he tweeted. No sooner did he put it out on Twitter, the tweet gathered over 31,000 retweets and 121,000 likes.

Many social media users slammed him and pointed out how Obama helped preserve our planet’s various species of fish. "Obama helped preserve our planet’s various species of fish. But of course, that is meaningless to a President who slows testing down, killing Americans," one tweet read and another said, "Meanwhile Trump plans to open Florida’s coasts to oil drilling after the election. Floridians better vote you out!"

Exposing how he was a liar, one said, "We've never had a more shellfish President than Trump," and continued, "After China imposed tariffs on lobster, Maine’s lobster exports to China dropped from 600,000 pounds to 100,000 pounds. The Chinese tariff was imposed because of tariffs the Trump administration had imposed on Chinese goods. Trump is a liar." Another said, "Does Trump think he’s Jesus making the lobster and the fish plentiful for his followers? What credit is he trying to hijack here? #TrumpIsNotWell." Several Twitter users even went on to share reports on how Trump hadn't saved the Maine industry.

One blatantly said how he "cares more about lobsters" than people. "Sir, I think you care more about lobsters than you do about people. The pandemic is getting worse and it’s on you," the tweet read and another said, "123,000 Americans are dead. Trump wants to talk about Lobsters."

Mocking his tweet, one said, "Hearing that the lobster industry is bigger and better makes me feel a lot better about mass death and mass unemployment. Greatly appreciated." Another posted, "Don’t listen to his lies. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. What he has done is remove vital protections for endangered species in a critical marine habitat. This is one of the most disastrous removals of environmental protections in US history. He has ZERO right."

One wrote, "Guess its better then ignoring a virus that has killed people & made thousands sick, this nation is still waiting for answers & resolutions, still waiting for positivity & solutions on police brutality which has not been addressed either!? "WHY?" OOH, Lobster must be for the 1%." Laughing at his new tweet, one wrote, "Omg. Now he killed crabs? Dude leave #Obama alone and start packing. #JoeByeDon."

If that wasn't enough, many referred to coronavirus as #TrumpVirus. "The #TrumpVirus has cost 124,281 Americans their LIVES," one tweet read and another said, "Lobster, Dementia Donald is talking about lobster #TrumpIsNotWell." Another said, "You have been singularly responsible for the premature loss of 120K lives. PLEASE just do your job before it grows to 250K."
