Donald Trump tells aides he will announce 2024 run when Joe Biden is declared winner: 'He knows it's over'
President Donald Trump has reportedly spoken to his aides and said that if President-elect Joe Biden is certified as the winner of the election, he will announce his plans to run for the White House in 2024.
The New York Times had reported that Trump is currently cooped up in the White House and has been very reluctant to admit that his current presidency is coming to an end. One of his advisers reportedly shared, "He knows it’s over."
Several other advisers to Trump have reportedly said that he has no plan to fight what is coming but is hoping to be able to maintain support from his base while he tries to figure out what he will do once he leaves the Oval office. A president is not allowed to serve more than two terms but those terms do not have to be consecutive.
So far, the only president in history to serve two nonconsecutive terms is Grover Cleveland who is the first Democrat elected after the Civil War and had served as the 22nd and 24th president. On Wednesday, November 11, many advisers of Trump had reportedly told him that his chances of being able to change the election results via the courts were very low.
Reports suggest that Trump has been considering running again in 2024 which would make him the oldest president if he is re-elected. However, many social media users are not on board with Trump's decision to run for the presidency in 2024. One such user shared, "Oh, no. He’ll announce his candidacy for 2024 and start the new grift to support the Trump 2024 campaign. And use MAGAts’ money to support his faltering businesses..."
Another user commented, "This will allow him to continue with the fantasy that he really won the 2020 election but was forced to concede, so is returning in 2024 to 'show them'." "The man has numerous criminal liabilities and investigations ongoing including money laundering, tax fraud, insurance fraud, bank fraud and campaign finance violations which sent his former lawyer to prison. Wishful thinking," said another.

Yet another user wrote, "I don’t think 4 years will be enough to get rid of all the lawsuits coming .. good luck with that." While another user who echoed the same sentiments chimed in, "If this happens we need a national mobilization. Register as Republican in states where it’s required and make sure he doesn’t make it through the primaries!"

We had earlier reported that Trump "will absolutely" run for re-election in 2024 should he lose to Joe Biden this year, his former chief of staff Mick Mulvaney had said. Mulvaney shared on Thursday, November 5, that he could definitely see Trump running again.
While speaking to the Dublin think tank Institute for International and European Affairs, he said, "After this election's over who is the leading Republican candidate for 2024? I think now, folks are starting to realize, wait a second, if Donald Trump loses he might be the guy, and I'm telling you, absolutely. I would absolutely expect the president to stay involved in politics and would absolutely put him on the shortlist of people who are likely to run in 2024," Mulvaney added.
