Trump slams 'lamestream' media for ignoring Joe Biden’s Air Force One tumble unlike his West Point ramp walk

'That tumble was terrible. It wasn't really one, it was three, and it wasn't mentioned for the most part in the lamestream media. It's terrible, the whole thing is incredible. There's no longer freedom of the press,' Trump told Newsmax

Former President Donald Trump is reportedly not happy with American media outlets as he criticized them for not giving enough attention to President Joe Biden’s tumble on Air Force One stairs on Friday, March 19. He also called out major publications for highlighting his walk down a West Point ramp in June 2020.

Speaking with Newsmax in a phone interview on Monday, March 22, Trump said, “That tumble was terrible. It wasn't really one, it was three, and it wasn't mentioned for the most part in the lamestream media. It's terrible, the whole thing is incredible. There's no longer freedom of the press.” Biden fell at the stairs of Air Force One thrice on Friday at Joint Base Andrews while boarding the 747 presidential aircraft for his trip to Atlanta. But no major outlets, such as MSNBC, CBS News, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and New York Times, carried the news.

Following the repeated fall, the White House confirmed that the 78-year-old suffered no injuries and was fit and fine. But since the news was absent from the homepages of major US news sites, it drew a comparison to an incident that happened last year with Trump when the Republican was seen taking shuffling baby steps down a West Point ramp. At the time, it was largely covered with leading publications CNN and MSNBC raising concerns about his health.

“Actually when I went down the ramp at West Point, which was like a sheet of ice with no railing, no nothing -- great planning -- I wanted to go inch by inch because the last thing I wanted to do was take a tumble like Biden did,” Trump stated while defending his shuffling. When host Greg Kelly asked, “Were you as shocked as I was, or maybe you weren't maybe you expected that to happen?” He responded, “I expected it, actually,” before adding: “There's something going on, it's crazy. What's happening is crazy and you wonder whether or not all of the things that he's signing, whether or not he understands what he's signing, because this is worse than Bernie Sanders at its worst point. We never thought this could happen. Bernie Sanders on steroids wouldn't be signing what this guy is signing.”

Kelly also asked Trump if he thinks the 25th Amendment will be invoked by the Democrats to remove Biden and make Vice President Kamala Harris the leader of the country, he remarked, “That's right. Now, well, a lot of people said when they brought it out because it takes a while to institute and when they brought it out, they said they really need it for Biden, just in case he gets in. So we'll see. Look, I hope — that's a very serious thing and I hope that never happens.”

On Monday’s, March 22, White House press secretary Jen Psaki addressed Biden’s stumble and told reporters, “He's 100% fine, I don't know if you've been up those steps they're a little tricky sometimes.” But did not clarify whether the president needed a doctor’s assistance. She added, “I'm not aware of that being required. There's, of course, a doctor who travels with the president, any president of the United States, but I'm not aware of it needing actual, extensive medical attention.”
