ENNIS, ALASKA: Episode 3 of 'True Detective: Night Country' delves deeper into the mysteries of Alaska as Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) discover new facts about the deaths of Annie Kowtok and the researchers.

Dr Anders Lund, who has lost his eyesight, wakes up in agitation and gets a short visit from Liz for questioning. Liz is accompanied by Navarro, who has been dealing with mysterious visions and dreams lately.

The third episode is stacked with evidence in favor of the supernatural hypothesis. When Evangeline Navarro throws an orange in the dark, it comes back rolling to her and she hears someone whispering "Help us."

However, she doesn't follow the voice, nor does she go out to see what made the orange bounce back. Later, while discussing the theories of murders, Liz Danvers rubbishes her cosmic theory.

In a previous episode, Liz dreams of her late child who carries a message. However, this time, he appears in the dreams of Navarro.

We could presume that they could just be meaningless dreams but when Anders abruptly sits up and rasps, "Hello, Evangeline. Your mother sends her regards. She awaits your presence," it makes us believe that there are larger, unexplained forces at play.

When Liz asks Anders about the events of the night, he says, "We've woke her. She's awake. And now, she is out on the ice. She came for us in the dark."

This makes us wonder- Who is "she"?

Who is Anders talking about?

If the show is truly taking the supernatural route, "she" is possibly Sedna, the Inuit deity of the sea and ruler of the underworld. Sedna is considered a vengeful goddess and there are varying legends around her.

It is also unraveled that Annie used to have dreams about the mysterious sign that was also found on the dead body of the scientist. It is also the same sign that Rose drew on the ice. There isn't yet any rational explanation for how this sign connects all these people.

Perhaps, this season's emphasis on supernatural events could be the ultimate twist to 'True Detective' Season 1 which concluded without solid evidence of paranormal occurrences.
