'Triggered': Meet Liesl Ahlers, Reine Swart and rest of the cast of gripping survival thriller coming on VOD
Alastair Orr's upcoming survival thriller is one of a kind. Titled 'Triggered', the film's official synopsis details: "Terror strikes when nine campers wake up with suicide bombs strapped to their chests, all with varying times on their countdown clocks." There was a time when dystopian thrillers used to be the coolest and most highly-anticipated titles of the year, and now it's just yet another thing that could happen in 2020. But although times have changed, our inclination towards all the freaky ways doomsday could descend upon humanity hasn't quite reached its saturation point. Liesl Ahlers
If you're a slasher thriller fan, there's no not knowing Alers from her super-creepy role of the troubled young girl Erin in the 2016 horror 'Friend Request'. Ahlers played the role of Marina, a disturbed girl obsessed with another from her university, after being shown a speck of kindness from the people-pleasing other girl. Ahler's performance in the film was critically acclaimed, only telling of what's to come from her Erin in 'Triggered'. The South African actress is an award-winning director, trained in martial arts, and also the owner of a women's clothing line, as well as the founder of The Squared Shirt Charity Project.
Reine Swart
The actress and filmmaker, best known for 'The Lullaby' (2018), 'Die Pro' (2015) and 'Detour' (2017), is clearly no stranger to the thriller genre. Apart from her directorial debut titled 'Heks', the South African actor has also starred in 'The Empty Man' (2020) opposite James Badge Dale, and Syfy's 'Z Nation'. Swart stars in another leading role called Rian on 'Triggered'.
Sean Cameron Michael
The veteran South African actor is also quite famous in Hollywood. Hae starred with some of the industry's finest, Michael first gained international exposure in Dean Devlin's Emmy-winning 'The Triangle' (2005), as well as Fox's multi-Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated feature '24: Redemption' (2008). Michael plays the role of Peterson in 'Triggered'.
Steven John Ward
Known for his work on 'Vagrant Queen' (2020), 'Queen Sono' (2020) and 'House on Willow Street' (2016), Ward plays the role of Ezra in the upcoming thriller.
'Triggered' will be available to rent or buy after its digital virtual premiere on Friday, November 6.
