Travis Scott's 'Fortnite': Where to watch, date, songs and all you need to know about the in-game live concert
We are certainly seeing a new era of creativity on the rise during the coronavirus pandemic, and with that, certain artists are taking to video games to present their music. On April 11, rock band American Football shared a pixelated stage with Open Pit, Anamanaguchi and more as they performed in the sandbox game 'Minecraft'. Now, Travis Scott will perform a 'Fortnite' concert in the next few months. The date, however, has not yet been disclosed yet.
Six-time Grammy-nominated hip hop star Scott has become a cultural icon, producing hits like 'Don't Play', 'Sicko Mode' and 'Highest in the Room'. As many fans would already know, he is also a fan of gaming and particularly a huge 'Fortnite' fan. In a record-breaking 'Fortnite' session in March 2018, Scott joined the game's biggest Twitch streamer Ninja alongside Drake and NFL wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Although there has been no official announcement of Scott's 'Fortnite' show, several hints and leaks have led fans to believe it will happen soon. Scott's stage is even undergoing construction in the game, according to Fortnite INTEL. The leaks began in March when a Scott skin was found in March.
What is Fortnite?
Fortnite is an online multiplayer video game developed by Epic Games. Apart from its colorful graphics and catchy quirky dance emotes, the game became a massive success mainly due to one of its three distinct game modes: Fortnite Battle Royale.
Fortnite: Save the World — a cooperative shooter-survival game for up to four players to fight off zombie-like creatures and defend objects with fortifications they can build.
Fortnite Creative — where players are given complete freedom to create worlds and battle arenas.
Fortnite Battle Royale — a type of fasted-paced 'Hunger Games' extravaganza and the most famous of the three. Fortnite's Battle Royale is a free-to-play mode where up to 100 players fight to be the last person standing. Becoming something of a cultural phenomenon, the mode drew in more than 125M players in less than a year after its release and earned hundreds of millions of dollars per month.
When is the concert?
Unfortunately, the official date has not yet been disclosed but die-hard fans speculate it may happen on Scott's birthday, which is April 30. There are also rumors of it happening in the next few months, nothing we can grasp onto just yet, but we suggest you keep following either Fortnite, Epic Games or Travis Scott himself for more clues.
Where is the concert?
Based on the recently surfaced info of the construction of the stage mentioned earlier, we can expect it to take place on one of the small islands between Sweaty Sands and The Shark. Sweaty Sands is a beach town with white sands and clear water along with a big hotel, pier and ice cream shop called SoFDeeZ. It can be located on coordinates B3, C3 and B4 and is northwest of Salty Springs, north of Holly Hedges and Southwest of Pleasant Park. The Shark is a point of interest (POI) located far north of Sweaty Sands and northwest of Pleasant Park, in the top leftmost corner of the map.
What songs will Travis Scott play?
After a leak was shared on April 18 of a song-prompting object similar to a comet hurtled toward the island, fans have guessed we may hear his 2019 hit 'Highest in the Room'. Fortnite players said the song plays when you aim at the mysterious flying object. Along with the usage of an object floating in Fornite space and in the spirit of Scott's third studio LP title 'Astroworld', we can assume he will perform songs from that album.
