'Keep up the great work': Transport secretary Pete Buttigieg mercilessly trolled after FAA shutdown
WASHINGTON, DC: Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has been facing continued criticism after the latest transportation crisis. Following a serious malfunction in the computer system of the Federal Aviation Administration, thousands of flights across the United States have been grounded. FAA's nationwide technical outage resulted in pausing airlines operations of all domestic departures on Tuesday, January 10.
On Wednesday, January 11, Buttigieg wrote on social media responding to the crisis, "I have been in touch with FAA this morning about an outage affecting a key system for providing safety information to pilots. FAA is working to resolve this issue swiftly and safely so that air traffic can resume normal operations, and will continue to provide updates." However, the internet is not staying calm on the nationwide issue that has affected many passengers who were supposed to board the flights.

Former Republican candidate Kimberly Nicole Klacik replied to Buttigieg's statement and noted, "This all began last night. Nice to see you finally got out of bed to check your phone,"
"Maybe, just maybe instead of sending trillions to other countries, we could use OUR tax dollars to fix our OWN country's aging infrastructure. Oh, shit wait, we'd need a real Sec Trans for that someone qualified for the position. Not Pete," another remarked.
One user tweeted, "But but but poser Pete Buttigieg is serious about transportation & crime… like when he got out of the car to ride bike two blocks from work," and another wrote, When Pete Buttigieg was Mayor of South Bend, Dominos had to fill South Bend’s potholes due to Mayor Pete’s incompetence. How was Pete Buttigieg qualified to be Transportation Secretary in the first place? After today's FAA computer failure, Joe Biden has some explaining to do."

Frustrated by frequent transportation crises, social media has erupted against the administration and Buttigieg, even going to the extent of asking him to resign from his position. One user tweeted, "Buttigieg should resign. Southwest debacle. Now this. He has got to go," while another wrote, "The transportation secretary has nothing to say because they still haven't figured out what happened. The Biden administration is clueless about everything."
"I guess they have been focusing on things other than 'old outdated systems.' Didn’t Southwest have the same excuse a few weeks ago too?" a user tweeted.
Conservative political commentator Michael Knowles wrote, "The FAA has apparently grounded all domestic flights because the computers broke. Keep up the great work, @PeteButtigieg!"
