'Too Hot To Handle' Season 4: Why did Lana penalise Kayla Richart and Sebastian 'Seb' Melrose?

Seb and Kayla had to stay clear of James, a fellow participant, who was on the prowl to make sure everyone stayed celibate, in addition to the villa's numerous cameras

PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS: 'Too Hot To Handle,' Netflix's intense dating series, has finally returned to screens for Season 4 of its celibacy social experiment. Only five episodes in, Sebastian 'Seb' Melrose quickly lost the trust of his fellow competitors after being caught repeatedly disobeying the rules set by purple-lit cone, Lana.

'Too Hot To Handle' and its virtual assistant, Lana, returned to screens to put 10 singletons to the test. The participants, however, had no idea they were on the famous dating program; instead, they thought they were on a brand-new show called 'Wild Love.' When the truth was ultimately revealed, fans of the program were dismayed to hear that the celibacy restriction was still in effect. The desperate singletons were not allowed to kiss, and no heavy petting, intercourse, or solo-self-gratification of any type was permitted during their stay in the villa.

'Too Hot To Handle' Season 4: Who is Sebastian Melrose? Blue-eyed race car driver set to spice up the show

When the guys first saw Los Angeles-based Kayla at the opulent Caribbean villa, practically all of them opted to pursue her in the hopes of gaining her attention and devotion. But she made it clear that she was leaving her choices open, even if New Jersey native Nigel Jones was her top choice due to his body, personality, and general confidence. The only thing keeping the 22-year-old from entirely falling in with him was the fear that he was Casanova, only to be proven correct after their first date when he continued to sweet-talk others.

Kayla consequently agreed to share a bed with British Salvadoran Seb, for whom she already had a special place because he was unapologetically humorous and also rather shy. The 24-year-old racing driver, in turn, took advantage of the situation by making her feel at ease, and so their relationship saw an uptick — neither wanted to leave the door open for others. To be honest, despite their fantastic chats and clever humor, they did battle with the villa restrictions at every step, costing everyone thousands of dollars.

As a result, Kayla and Seb were subjected to the ultimate control test to prove their love: a romantic night alone in the private room, complete with rose petals, a 2-person bathtub, and booze. The two really behaved this time, indicating that they were in it for the long haul, only to be thrown another curveball in the form of bombshell Flavia Laos Urbina, a new newcomer from Peru. She invited Seb to be her first date, oblivious of his relationship with Kayla, and his head nearly turned because she's just his type, but he luckily didn't kiss her despite the free pass.

The fact that Seb returned from the date with Flavia hand-in-hand broke Kayla's heart since she was convinced they were creating something very wonderful, but he swiftly tracked her down to explain everything. The 24-year-old didn't lie at any point, even admitting he was tempted, but then said he couldn't stop thinking about her, making their relationship stronger than before. Nonetheless, the young American wanted to stake her claim and make it clear that the Scotsman was hers, so she went all the way with him in the common shower.

Despite the danger, Seb and Kayla kissed, fondled, and even had intercourse, much to the chagrin of the rest of the ensemble. The cash prize was decreased after each rule violation, since the couple continued to be sexual even after Lana increased the penalty. In addition to the various cameras encircling the Caribbean house, the pair had to evade another participant — James Pendergrass — who was on a mission to keep everyone celibate.

So, towards the end of episode 5, Lana informed the group that the prize amount had been reduced from $200000 to $117000. So, how much did each contestant contribute to the dip in prize fund?

Seb and Kayla: $50000 + $18000
Creed and Sophie: $6000
Nick and Jawahir: $3000
Seb and Jawahir: $3000
Nigel and Kayla: $3000

Season 4 episodes 6-10 of 'Too Hot To Handle' will premiere on December 14, 2022.
