WHITLEY COUNTY, KENTUCKY: Local police have reported that a toddler helped Kentucky police in their pursuit of a fugitive who had numerous active arrest warrants against her. Williamsburg Police Department, Kentucky State Police, and Whitley County Sheriff's Department deputies were looking for Tina Hicks, 45, at a residence.

"No adult family member was willing to report whether or not the fugitive was inside the house," the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department said in a Facebook post. "A very brave and honest toddler stood up, put his hands on his hips, and stated, “it is good to be honest… we shouldn’t lie, she is inside the room next to the bathroom!” the department added.

Toddler praised for his moral character

The fugitive was eventually found by deputies hiding in the indicated place. Deputy Patrick praised the little boy for his moral character and dedication to the community.

Two outstanding Whitley Circuit indictment warrants accusing Hicks of Williamsburg of possessing meth and drug paraphernalia were served on her. Four further outstanding District Court warrants were also served on her.

The Sheriff’s Office added “for clarification” that, "the child involved was visiting the family. He was healthy, intelligent, and in no way appeared to be abused. He was just at the wrong place [at the] wrong time, the follow-up comment read. "If deputies thought he was a potential victim of repercussions, it would have been dealt with."

'At least someone has taught their child right'

Although there were positive reactions to the story the police shared on Facebook, many worried about the toddler's safety, as one user wrote, "I don’t know these people, but this post has made me smile!! At least someone has taught their child right. The child needs a present." One said, "The child is in no danger! He lives in Ohio and was visiting his great-grandpa for his birthday. None of the adults were from Kentucky just visiting for a birthday party and didn't want involved in the situation."

'Someone is raising him right'

One more wrote, "Proud of the child for speaking up, Good job all..." More users went ahead praising the child, "Someone is raising him right. Hopefully, the adults learned from his courageous actions. Now the adults are learning that every action has a reaction. It's kind of ironic that the toddler is teaching the adults to be honest."
