'Smells like another Oscar!': Fans excited as Joaquin Phoenix's first look from 'Joker: Folie à Deux' set revealed

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Todd Phillips posted the first photograph of Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as Arthur Fleck aka Joker. The picture, captured on the sets of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’, was shared by the director on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Phillips captioned the picture, "Day 1. Our boy. #joker." The movie, which is set to release in October 2024, will also star Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, and Jacob Lofland along with Phoenix. 

Fans could not stop gushing about the "absolutely beautiful" first look and took to social media to express their awe. Commenting on the still, one of the fans wrote, “Smells like another Oscar!” While one more fan said, "Another masterpiece incoming." Expressing excitement, one commented, "I genuinely cannot wait to see Joaquin Phoenix to reprise his Oscar-winning role as The Joker." "It’s absolutely beautiful, thank you, Todd,” said another fan.

Lady Gaga to star in Joaquin Phoenix's 'Joker 2', excited fans say 'want her to win Oscar'

One user praised the first movie and said, “The first one is my favorite movie of all time! It really hits me hard and I can relate to a lot of Arthur’s emotions! I really hope this connects the same way!” Another commented, "Whoa. What are y'all doing? Can't wait to see what y'all have in store for us." 



 

While some fans were awaiting the movie excitedly after the picture was posted, many said they wanted to see the picture of Lady Gaga. The 'Born This Way' singer plays the role of Harley Quinn in the movie, however, her look has not been revealed yet. Asking the makers to reveal her look, a fan wrote, “Sneak peak at Gaga plis.” Another said, “Will we get your girl on Day 2." One fan commented, "Please give us a picture of Harley Quinn aka Lady Gaga."

The movie is a sequel to Phillips’ 'Joker', which was a box-office hit and grossed $1 billion. It also won two Oscars, including Phoenix taking home best performance by an actor in a leading role.
