Lady Gaga to star in Joaquin Phoenix's 'Joker 2', excited fans say 'want her to win Oscar'

Over the past few months, there have been rumors of Lady Gaga playing an important role in the sequel of blockbuster film 'Joker' and now, the pop queen has finally confirmed her casting by dropping a musical teaser on Twitter. Titled ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’, the film will star Gaga opposite Joaquin Phoenix.

Ever since Phoenix's 'Joker' smashed the global box office records back in 2019, fans have been eagerly waiting for its sequel. Furthermore, with the news of Gaga's possible appearance in the film, ardent fans had been wanting to witness Phoenix and the Grammy award-winning pop queen's sizzling chemistry on screens. ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ releases globally in theatres by October 4, 2024. The film is set to hit theaters exactly five years after its prequel in 2019.

Talking about the short teaser, it begins with Joaquin Phoenix’s name coming in bold font on the screens followed by a black silhouette of him dancing in the dark. Soon after, Lady Gaga is introduced in the video wherein her name also appears in a bold black font. She slowly dances her way to the background music and it surely has raised the excitement among fans to watch the two characters on screens in October 2024. The teaser has a perfect mix of dance, fun, a sense of mystery, and adventure as well.

Ever since Gaga shared the news on her official Twitter handle, it has raised excitement among fans of the pop star. One fan wrote, “Not gonna lie, I want Gaga to win her Oscar for this. Just to watch the ensuing chaos,” while another said, “Only the most talented and versatile entertainer!" “I don’t know what’s going to happen to me in life, but i’m going to stick around for the next 2 years and 2 months because i need to see lady gaga in the joker sequel,” a fan noted.

“Whenever I think Gaga’s career has peaked, she proves me wrong. There's always another epic milestone just around the corner. Isn’t it so exciting being a little monster? She is incredible. #Joker,” shared a fan. “There was absolutely no way to make me excited for a sequel to joker except to very specifically say "lady gaga as Harley Quinn and it's a musical" and these crazy bastards did it. God damn. I’m in,” added another fan. “I think this is great. The first movie was great too. Not an all-time classic but a good, straightforward edgy movie.
