'Snowpiercer' Season 3 Episode 6 Review: Layton confronts Pike as Wilford crumbles
Spoilers for 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 Episode 6 'Born to Bleed'
Episode 6 of ‘Snowpiercer’ Season 3 begins with Pike having a nightmare in which he’s being attacked by someone on Ruth’s order. He’s woken up to the news of the attempt on Layton’s life and is summoned to Big Alice for a meeting. Layton asks Pike to stay back and guard Zarah and Liana as Till leaves to find the perpetrators, while Ruth visits Roche, suggesting he takes the medication that will make him more stable. However, Roche reveals his disinterest in getting better, not even for his daughter, and expresses his desire to harm Mr Wilford in a more gruesome manner. Layton, rattled by the explosion, and disoriented by a concussion, starts to suspect that Wilford is behind the explosion, to Pike's relief. However, Till informs Layton that it was a fertilizer bomb and that the manual has a few pages missing, which makes Layton figure out that Pike was the one who set the bomb. Pike gets away and is chased around the train by Layton, who gets knocked unconscious after falling down a flight of stairs.
Miss Audrey finally makes contact with Mr Wilford, after bribing a guard, and tries to get him to take over the train again. She gets a little startled looking at how fragile he is and ends their conversation abruptly after Wilford appears to side with Layton. As Pike makes his way through the train, he bumps into Asha, and two have an intense conversation, while Layton addresses the Tailies, ordering them to turn Pike in if they spot him.

Ruth finds Pike and asks him to turn himself in and not do anything with the intention of her becoming the leader of the Resistance. Pike gets away once again or rather is allowed to get away, without responding to Ruth. Back in Big Alice, Josie and her son recommend Layton to call out Pike publicly to settle their feud in a Tailie manner, where the parties involved have a civil discussion first and can choose to end it in a duel if they feel like it. Pike agrees, handing over the bomb he was carrying to Ruth, before facing Layton.
Layton tries everything within his means to convince Pike to give up but it goes in vain. Pike goes on to tell Layton that he knows that the concept of New Eden was a lie after talking to Asha. He forces Layton to a knife fight, threatening to out him and his secret if he doesn’t agree. A tense fight ensues, which ends with Layton killing Pike. Episode 6 of ‘Snowpiercer’ Season 3 ends with the Tailies paying their respects to Pike, as Layton stays back with the corpse to reflect on everything that transpired, collapsing after having a series of disorienting visions.
Titled 'Born to Bleed,' the latest episode of 'Snowpiercer' continues to raise the stakes in what has so far been a gripping season. Steven Ogg steals the spotlight as Pike but his demise feels rushed. It would've been interesting if Pike was shown siding with Audrey and Wilford's loyalists or as a bigger threat to the safety of the train. Episode 6 of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 does tease a new threat by giving us a peek into the deteriorating mind of Roche and we hope that the arc is developed further in the upcoming episodes. We can also expect to see or hear more about Melanie Cavill, as her death hasn't been officially confirmed and as Wilford and Alex have visions of her.
'Snowpiercer' airs Mondays at 9 pm ET on TNT.
