'Snowpiercer' is a post-apocalyptic science fiction action franchise based on the French graphic novel 'Le Transperceneige'. The franchise has run successfully through the years and built up a loyal fanbase.

Season four of the series is soon to be released and speculations are making the rounds on it being the last season of the series. The new season may arrive in 2023 on TNT in the US. UK viewers can catch the show on Netflix.

As the new Warner Brothers Discovery takes inventory of its options, many Warner-owned outlets may see drastic shifts in how they do business. The company told Variety that TNT will no longer produce any scripted programming. This could be a bad sign for 'Snowpiercer'. Season four happened as it was announced before the Season three finale aired, or it probably wouldn't have stood a chance.

This move made sense pre-merger, as it was a buzzy, big setpiece show that got folks talking about TNT again. Big-name stars, a built-in fan base from the 2013 'Snowpiercer' movie and 1982 graphic novel, and a huge story made it something the network could build around. In the wake of the merger between Warner Bros and Discovery, everything looks much different. A spokesperson in a statement to Deadline stated, "We can confirm that Snowpiercer will end after a successful, multi-season run on TNT."

Through its journey in the three seasons, 'Snowpiercer' has received mixed reviews from critics. For Season 2 of 'Snowpiercer', the series averaged a 0.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and slightly more than 900,000 viewers. After the Season 3 premiere, there was a precipitous drop-off of viewership. Not so good right?

Although, Warner Bros Discovery might want to move 'Snowpiercer' to their streaming service. If the series is seen as simply as something that keeps subscribers signed up in between other big releases, it could continue with its legacy. There have been complaints in the past about  the changes the show has made to its source material, and the limitations of its cable TV telecast, which restricts Snowpiercer's irreverent, anarchic strengths.

A new report by Deadline confirms that TNT has officially canceled 'Snowpiercer' and the fourth season will be its last. The news was confirmed as the cast's options came up during production on Snowpiercer season 4, which is currently underway in Canada.
