What is 'Put On Your Shoes' Challenge? TikTok trend slammed as 'unhealthy' for children
A new TikTok challenge has taken over the Internet recently, and parents are going crazy over it. The "Put Your Shoes On" challenge has made its debut and is now dominating the app. Contrary to the name, it involves more than just putting your shoes on. The "Put Your Shoes On" challenge on TikTok is all about parents pulling a prank on their kids.
In the viral challenge, parents pretend they are about to be attacked by a neighbor in front of their children. The parent then informs the youngster that they will want aid if things go downhill. Typically, this causes most children to hurry and put on their shoes in order to protect and help their parents. However, as the youngster rushes to the door expecting to witness a brawl, nobody is found. Then it is revealed that they have been duped. The hashtag # putyourshoeonchallenge has received 5.1 million views to date.

This challenge has become very popular among many celebrities, including Joie Chavis and her daughter Shai Moss. The mother recently pulled this challenge on Shai. Most fans anticipated Shai would be prepared to engage in combat, but the 11-year-old shocked everyone with a clever retort. As Joie roused Shai from her sleep, she informed her that she had been experiencing problems with a neighbor who was irate because Joie had parked in front of her house. Now, when the neighbor allegedly wants to fight, the neighbor's daughter is interfering, so she needs Shai's help.
Shai merely states that the neighbor's daughter should "stay in a child's place". Despite her obvious signs of fatigue and annoyance, Shai puts her shoes on only to discover that it's a joke.
The clip has been uploaded by Joie on her Instagram with the caption: "Shai is literally me it's scary" with a crying emoji.
TikTok's new challenge may be popular on social media, but several parents and celebrities have criticized the fad.
'Breakfast Club' host Charlamagne Tha God is not a fan of the challenge. On a live broadcast of the show on July 12, 2022, DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlemagne Tha God discussed the viral craze. Envy and Angela found the challenge amusing, while Charlamagne Tha God noted that youngsters may find the trend upsetting. Charlamagne Tha God said that he enjoys a good joke, but manipulating a youngster to gain notoriety is the height of cruelty.
"I don’t like people laughing at their kids’ pain, traumatizing those kids for likes and reposts. I hate it. You got kids crying on the internet, scared to death because you wanna go viral. I think it’s wack," said Charlamagne Tha God.
Marc Lamont Hill, a television personality, also expressed his thoughts on tricking kids to fight being "unhealthy." "It makes me so sad when I see children publicly exploited for internet clout. Whether it's intentionally making them cry, giving them humiliating punishments, or exposing their most intimate moments, we must all do better to protect their dignity and innocence," he tweeted.
